Like usual, during the Saturday that we are in Calzuma, Chris and I go take a few drinks at the bar in front of the big lake. I dont know what time it is but this alcohol should make me forget that I didnt have news from Tessa since the supper on Friday night. However, I learned from Chris that she spent the night at Davids place and that shes still there.

I try to make a face of astonishment at the end of Chriss speech. Then she jumped on me and I didnt even have the time to reply!

Wow, laughs Kevin, youre a real bastard.

Oh stop, Chris laughs, I didnt know they were friends.

Jake, is everything alright? Kevin suddenly worries.

Yeah, I just find it weird that David is always glued to my partner.

Since they were little theyve been inseparable, says the son of the earth as he finishes his drink.

This little substitute will cause my problem if hes that much protector of Tessa, Chris grunts, ignoring us.

I roll my eyes as Kevin gets up, taking his jacket. Ill see you tomorrow at the training, Im exhausted, he concludes, exiting the bar.

Chris plunges back in another story about another of his adventure with a human. I force a smile, feeling some jealousy about the fact that he had the chance to go live his life on Earth with the others and that he was able to get dozens of girls. However, a part of me is worried about Tessa. Yes, Chris is a really good friend, but I know how much hes a jerk with girls. Chris raises his glass, smiling completely.

In what occasion? I ask, raising my glass.

My new conquest! Tessa Belar! The daughter of the metal He drinks the entire glass and I imitate him, frowning my eyebrows. So hes really just going to use her and then leave her aside?

I got the jackpot, laughs Chris, completely drunk. I laugh too, not really knowing why.

What do you mean? I ask.

Well lets see, he begins, shes a depressed girl who needs comfort and affection Shes kind of cute, her personality is just enough endurable and its been a while that Ive noticed her

I dont answer. I dont know how much time I just stayed there, speechless. Do Do you love her at least?

A grin appears on Chriss lips. Come on, you know me Jake. Have I already loved a girl? he answers after a sip a beer.

My heart tightens before this drastic declaration. I cant believe it. Hes really going to break Tessa from the inside. Its not that I really care but I dont know. Ive never felt a feeling of protection as strong as this one in my life. I was about to start screaming at Chris when he looks behind me.

Eh! Isnt she your girlfriend from the restaurant!? he says.

I turn around, still confused and I see Britney sitting at the bar on her cell phone. I roll my eyes, sighing. Shes just a stand-in while I find someone better. Sometimes I ask myself if Im worst than Chris? Shes sexy isnt she! I mumble, crossing my arms on the bar.

He burst out laughing one more time and it takes me a moment before I realise that

Chris?

Yes?

What is she doing here?

He stops laughing and shakes his head. Shes drinking, stupid, he says like its a total evidence.
