I rapidly head towards my target, David. I bustle a few people as I join him. If I want the dagger, Ill have to work for it. Jake is close to me and that will give me the confidence that I need to face the son of the spirit. While he heads to the entrance of the room where the feast of the pair was held, I plant myself in front of him, my breath cut off by fear. It takes him less than two seconds to severely grab my wrist and pull me in a hallway where we find ourselves alone. The walls are navy blue and beautiful decorative plants in silver pots run along the corridor. Somewhere should be Jake watching us carefully.

How dare you come back here? I saw you run away with a person dressed in black! he affirms angrily as he traps me between him and the wall.

I still dont have my part of the deal, I grumble, trying to get rid of his grip.

A scary darkness passes in his eyes which makes me turn my head, thinking that he could hit me too. In the contrary, he takes my chin with a delicacy which doesnt resemble him.

Look at me, I shake my head timidly as he takes off his thumb and index from y trembling face. Look at me like you looked at me when you kissed me.

He passes his thumb on my inferior lip and I see a thin spot of blood.

Does it hurt? he whispers.

No, I groan.

I raise my gaze towards his to find the David that I knew years ago, but I only see a stranger who sliced Kevins head. I still wrap my arms around his neck as he looks enviously at my lips.

Show me the dagger, I beg him.

He crosses his fingers on the bottom of my back, smiling. You didnt respect your part of the deal Why should I respect mine?

Show it to me and I promise Ill join you. Like Kelly did. I can do it. I could even convince Carl and Jake to come with us and well be stronger than the others. Angela will have everything she wants.

A bad smile draws itself on his face before he pushes me on the wall which makes me jump. He places his hands on the sides of my head and bends towards me to kiss me. I let him do it with disgust, thinking about the dagger. My necklace begins to put an abnormal pressure on my neck and I understand that Jake is assisting to the scene. I push back David with finesse and say as I flutter my eyelashes, Can you show it to me now?

He seems confused as he was at the start, but he beckons me to fallow him with a nonchalant air. We move forward with a hurried and silent step in a distant corridor in the mansion. We arrive in front of a door like the others, but when David opens it, a cold darkness hits us. We plunge into the basement in an uncomfortable and mysterious silence. The coldness freezes my bones since my dress doesnt cover much of my flesh. A simple bulb hanging to the ceiling lights up the room, no bigger than a closet.

And now? I ask, feeling the curiosity starting to run in my veins.

Patefacio sursum, he recites in a brittle voice.

The wall in front of us opens vertically to unveil a room of the same size, but so illuminated I have to squint my eyes to get used to the light. In the center of this tiny room, theres a table on which rests a glass bell to protect the dagger. I advance with a small step towards this fatal weapon which stole millions of spirits. It was much simpler than I imagined it. A shining grey blade and a black handle with six precious stones on one side. One blue, one red, one green, one white, one grey and one purple.

My mother had to believe in your game if only you did the right thing. If only you could have been anyone else than you.

I stare at the weapon, realising that I am now alone in the bright room.
