Chapter 2 -rings-

I see Carls house through the window of Kellys car. Shes putting some pink lipstick while looking in her pocket mirror as I pull at the bottom of my dress.

Did you notice that Thomas, Chris, Jake and Carl all have the same ring but in different colours? She puts away her makeup and her mirror, ignoring my question. You didnt notice?

She lets out a long sigh of discouragement. So what Tess? They have the right to have the same taste and to all buy the same signet ring! And anyway, since when do you worry about that kind of completely useless details? She blubbers.

She turns to the front and her jaw tightens. She knows something and she doesnt want to tell me, its obvious. If she didnt, she wouldnt have been so cold.

And Tuesday I heard you talking with David of a person and of leaving Jake on Earth what did you mean?

The rear door opens, and Carl gets in the car with gaiety. Hey girls! Thank you for waiting for me!

No problem. I sighed and Kelly starts the car.

When we finally arrive at Chriss, I realize that there is a lot more persons than I thought there would be. After school I dropped by my best friends house so she could pass me her clothes but since shes much smaller than I am, her black dress is shorter and tighter than I would have hoped. And to say that the parties I usually attend consist of twenty people, this one has more than a hundred. Kelly, Carl and I enter in the house and an inexplicable ambiance enrolls us.

Before I even turn around to see where my two friends are, I realise that they left me alone. Its this little side that I dont like about Kelly, she doesnt realise that she puts me aside when shes with Carl. The music is so loud that it makes the floor shake. I try to work my way through the bewitched crowd, looking for David. Big parties like that arent really my style. I take out my cellphone to ask him where he is, but he doesnt to be here yet. Then, I send Kelly and Carl textos, without any answer. Awesome.

Tessa! a warm voice exclaims behind me.

I sigh of relief as I see Chris, who takes in his arms and hands me a drink. Chris, I say, my stomach filled with butterflies.

You too, I say sadly as he walks away.

I smell the drink that Chris gave me with a grimace, I should take something else since I dont like strong alcohol. I put the beverage on a coffee table and try to find the kitchen. When I finally get there, I take a look of disgust when I see whos there. Mirandas entire crew is standing in a circle. Theres my brother whos standing back with Kevin Swan and Sophie Rack. Whats strange with her is that she has long green hair. If I had the choice, I wouldnt dye it in green. But who am I to talk with my natural grey hair? Then, my gaze goes to the beautiful Chris He is absorbed in a conversation with Miranda and her friend with blue hair. I turn around vividly to take something to drink, but mostly not to get noticed. I take a red cup and subtly pour water in it. I start to search in the kitchen, looking for ice cubes to put in my glass.

Wheres the stupid ice? I say to myself after some time.

I feel a presence to my left. I turn around and see beautiful blue hair standing beside me. Mirandas friend gently smiles at me as she makes herself a drink with some bottles that Ive never seen.

Tessa, isnt it? she asks, still smiling.

Yes, I answer as I subtly look behind me to be certain that shes talking to me.

Im Leila! she adds, waddling to the rhythm of the music.
