It took Flavius only a few minutes to find us a car and make us leave this asylum. I blame myself for using manipulation, but I have to go back. I have to find back my planet and understand. See from my own eyes the result of this war triggered by my fault. A part of me hopes to find someone To find him. I dont want to believe that hes dead. Ill live in denial for the rest of my life if this is my destiny. I dont pay attention to the road were taking or even the location of the portal for one second. I only get out of my thoughts when the car stops and the engine stops purring. My chest raises and lowers at an irregular rate.
Are you sure? Flavius asks without showing his disagreement for my idea.
I have to see, I explain as I get out of the vehicle.
The cold wind immediately whips my face and sends my hair waltz. Despite the glacial air, a certain humidity provides me to enjoy fully the oxygen. It doesnt take me an eternity before noticing that the sun seems to no longer exist, but a glow lights up weakly the skyline. I breathe in deeply, hoping to find the scent of the lake that was not far from here, but nothing comes except the sad and morbid smell of death. The only sound, coming from the unpleasant whistling of the wind, gives me goosebumps. My gaze finally stops on the thing that I came to see. The manor. At least, whats left of it. I walk forward in a little decided step towards the ruins of this house, which reminds me all the bad memories of my short existence. I cross my arms on my chest to calm the spasms that grab each of my members. The extent of the damage extends over several meters. I dont remember what I came to do here anymore or what I came to find, but it doesnt prevent me from progressing gradually in the waste of the manor. I look right in front of me as I try to find a normal way to breathe. Suddenly, I trip on something and Flavius comes rapidly to help me up.
Its fine, thank you I grumble, ashamed of being so clumsy.
I turn towards the obstacle which made me lose my footing and I feel a heartbreaking pain in the bottom of my stomach. Its a corpse in decomposition. I let escape a scream while Flavius holds me in his arms to make me change direction.
You made enough observations for this horrible day Lets go back. Its late.
NO! I scream, on the edge of crying. I have to keep going!
I struggle for him to let me go and take a deep inspiration. I return in my path as I ignore Flaviuss screams in my back. I finally stop, realising that I wont find anything here. Everything is destroyed. Its probably a revolution Heres the new age in which well live from now on. The apocalypse. I feel it in my bones and veins Were all on the edge of landing directly in hell. I feel Flaviuss hand on my shoulder and I understand that its time to leave.
Pardon me? Flavius whispers, taking place in front of me.
I didnt talk, I say, dazed.
We plunge in a silence, stretching the ear.
ah
Theres someone over there! Flavius exclaims, pointing my right.
He didnt need to say it twice, I start to go as fast as I can in the residues of the manor, getting closer to the whining. Someone alive! No, its impossible! And yet these are complaints that Im hearing.
There! Flavius exclaims as he points a hand with a golden ring on the index getting out of a pile of rocks.
I recognize this hand, I whisper, oh my God! I run towards the person and I kneel rapidly as I exclaim: Leila? Leila is it really you?
Flavius helps me to clear the stone from the top of her body.
Chris, she breathes.
I was almost scared that the effort of talking would cost her life because she was in such a bad shape. I notice that theres a puddle under her which wets her body.
