I was sitting in the balcony on the swing with nandini sitting in between my legs. Her back touching my front. Her head resting near my heart.

We were silent as none of us wanted to talk. We were sitting without any awkward silence between us. Sipping coffee from one cup.

We finished the coffee. I was going to get up when nandini held my hand and pleaded with her eyes to stay for some more time. I happily obliged.

I sat back in my same position. Nandini also sat in her same position. She held my hands with hers and put it on her stomach, tightening her hands on mine.

I was confused. I was not able to understand what she wanted or was asking for but with out even thinking, I just pressed my hands on her stomach pulling her closer. I felt her body getting relaxed under my touch. She snuggling more into me.

I kissed her hair.

"Boyfriend" She said in a broken voice.

I held her chin and saw her crying silently which startled me.

"Princess kya hua. Why are you crying?" I asked wiping her tears with my thumb.

"You know nah that I hate tears in my baccha's eyes." I said running my fingers in her hair.

"Boyfriend voh... I wanted to tell you something." She said in between her hiccups.

"Accha okay but first you stop crying" She wiped her tears immediately, obeying me.

"Now tell me what you want to tell"

"Boyfriend you know those people were so bad... So bad... They... The..ey" She started stammering. Her voice started cracking.

"Princess you don't need to." But she interrupted me

"But I want you to know. Please. I want to tell you."

"I am here baccha listening to you. Tell me." I said hugging her more tightly. Pulling her more closer to me.

"They never gave me proper food boyfriend. They use to put so much chilly inside the food and make me eat it forcefully. It was so ganda. My mouth use to burn. I use to scream for water but they never gave. They use to see me crying, screaming for hours and hours but did not give me any water. If they would give me water they would mix so much salt in it. Voh pani peene se aur dard hota tha. Mera sir bahut dard karta tha but koi bhi meri help nahi kiya. My tummy, whole body use to pain but they never helped me. They never gave me proper food boyfriend even for once. Lily aunty use to give me food without then knowing. They..." And before she could continue, I took her in a tight hug. Pulling her more and more into me.

I didn't want her to slip into the darkness completely as I know once she starts remembering everything. Flashes of her past, it will be very tough for me to bring her back.

She started crying loudly, clinging more and more into me. Trying to dig her face inside my chest. Tears were rolling down my eyes to.

My love had gone through so much. She was a person who use to hate spicy food and here everyday they gave her.

I failed to save her.

I failed to protect her.

I failed as a lover.

I failed as her best friend.

I failed in everything.

This was the reason she always use to eat food from my plate. Her insecurities, her pain. Fear of eating the same food which she ate for 8 years was always stuck in her head."

"Baccha look at me" I held her face with my hands making her look into my eyes "No one will give you that food ever again. I am there nah. Trust your boyfriend. He won't let anything happen to you. I won't let anyone harm my baccha. My princess." I said wiping her tears.

She just nodded her head and rested her face near the crook of my neck snuggling more and more into it, still crying silently. I didn't wipe her tears this time as I knew she needs to cry. She Needs to let it out.

I was kissing her hair ever now and then, caressing her hair. Trying to comfort her.

I love you nandini. I love you a lot. I will remove all your pain and take you out from this darkness.

I promise!

I sealed all my thoughts with a long kiss on her hair.
