“How did we get into this mess?” I asked Yugi as we stared at the sunset from the roof of the school, our special spot, the one we had been to every sunset since our parents died. “I just can’t believe it. One moment he’s here, standing right next to us and whacking Joey with a sword and the next he’s, well-”

Not. Yugi finished.

“Not.” I agreed.

But why? What could he possibly want with us?

“Maybe it has something to do with the puzzle and bracelet.” I suggested.

We both looked at our respective items.

“We’ll get him back.” I said after a long moment of utter silence. “We’ll beat him at his own game, Yugi. You're a genius duelist and I’m a great fighter. You know that. Together, we can do this.”

Yugi laughed. That’s a pretty high estimation of our abilities.

“You're just jealous that i really can kick butt and take names. You have to challenge them to a card game. I just jump them."

He laughed again. We better be going. Grandpa will be-

He stopped.

Sorry. For a moment there I-

He started to cry.

I hugged him, holding him close. “We should get home.”

But when we arrived at the Kame Game Shop there was an envelope waiting for us.

I opened it. Inside were five Duel Monsters cards.

I held one out to Yugi with a picture of an old fashioned ship on it.

Invitation to Duelist Kingdom? He asked. What’s that?

“Trouble.” I replied.

The next day after school we showed the cards to the rest of the gang.

We had (well I had) already told them what had happened while they had been frozen but Tristan was still unsure of our story.

“So you think he’s keeping Gramps on Duelist Kingdom Island?” Joey asked.

“Maybe.” I said. “The only way to find out is to sign up as a contestant.”

Yugi looked at his deck.

Grandpa’s deck.

“The ship leaves in two days.” I said. “YUgi and I are going.” I held up a card that was very likely unique. “And I need revenge.”

On the card was a picture of me in some kind of ancient egyptian garb, my hair held up in gold bands, twin daggers on my hips. The description read as follows:

This beautiful warrior is not only her brothers fierce protector since ancient times but his friend, helper and interpreter as well.  The name of the card was The Dueling Interpreter.

“I am not a Duel monster.” I said softly, trying to keep my temper in check

“You can't go.”

I looked at Tea. “Why not? We have to.”

“It’s too dangerous. I won't let you.”

“Oh yeah, then shove it up your-”

Yugi stopped me. We have to go.

It was the first time he had spoken all day.

Or well, you know what i mean.
