Yugi transformed back into his old self, that other personality retreating.
For now.
After talking a bit we decided to head to the meadow we had seen on our way to the udel with Weevil, now knowing of the bonus.
“Bring it on!” Joey yelled as we arrived in the grassy plain. “I’m itching to duel! I’ll take on the next player we see!”
“Whoa, nelly.” I said. “There are only tournament level players here.”
That seemed to smack some sense into him
Not.
“Here I stand! The next Duel Monsters Champion!”
“You’re standing alright.” I yelled. “On a cliff! Get down!”
“He needs a reality check.” Tea grumbled.
We went up to Joey as he gazed at the brilliant blue ocean and dragged him to the meadow where we froze as we took it all in.
“Look at them all.” I said.
There are so many. Yugi said.
“There everywhere.” Tea murmured.
“I’m going in.” Joey declared
All below us were dozens upon dozens of duel arena’s most of which were in use. They must be scattered all around the island.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Tea asked. “One loss and it’s all over for you.”
Joey nearly fell over. Apparently he had forgotten about that.
Don’t worry. Yugi assured him. You’ll be fine.
“I hope so, Yugi. This will be my first official duel.”
“And if you lose it will be your last as well.” I added.
Yugi swatted my shoulder when Joey wasn’t looking.
Sorry. I signed.
“Not everyone here is a pro.” I said, trying to backtrack. “I’m sure we could find someone on your level.”
“Go for someone easy, Joey.” Tea advised.
“I guess I should consider what type of field my deck would do best on.” Joey said, taking out his deck. “They’re mostly Beast and Warrior types so I guess I should look for a arena with a-” he looked at me for help.
Meadow. I mouthed.
“Meadow type field.” Joey finished.
Yugi nodded. See. You know what you're doing.
Apparently he had not seen me tell Joey the answer.
“You lost, crybaby! Now hand over your star chips.” A familiar annoying voice said, possibly the only female duelist on the island.
“A voice that annoying could only belong to Mai.” Tea snarled.
We headed down towards Mai who was talking to a kid who may have believed himself to be a bee, if his shirt was anything to go by.
