                       LABYRINTH

As the night howled and the sun turned moon, Elizabeth had come to realize that her life might finally be normal again. As normal as one vampire can be.

She has finally created a bond between her and Katerina. To say she was thrilled was an understatement. They would go on walks through the forest, through the garden and gaze as the sun went down and the moon came up. There favorite past time.

Many nights and days have past that Katerina had finally come to the kingdom and found rule with Elizabeth at her side and she couldn't be more happy. She loved how her life had turned out to be, with her savior.

"How do you know if I am fit to be in the presence of the kingdom Elizabeth?" Katerina asked one day with Elizabeth as they walked through the garden behind the castle, a newly found tradition after every fifth sun. It had become tradition for the times they had been separated. Elizabeth was always busy with her duties as Katerina tried to evolve her English. There were times where she made absolute no sense leaving her flustered in the presence of Liza who would just smile fondly.

Katerina knew deep down that she felt something for the woman. Whether it be for the fact that she did in fact take her in at her most darkest times or not. It was something Katerina had never felt before. And it bugged her to no end.

"Why would you say that Katerina? Have I not welcomed you enough?" Elizabeth looks up from her reading, a fierce look in her eyes, something Katerina noticed was always there. A warmth spreads within her and she sighs. She just couldn't describe what it was.

"No." she clears her throat, smiling. "I just feel out of place-"

"Have you not been studying your English?" Elizabeth tilts her head cutting Katerina off, leaving her flustered as she starts to stutter at the look in her savior eyes, so much intensity in ones that always looked at her with adoration.

"Yes, Tabitha-"

"Yes, Tabitha, how is my favorite witch of all time?" Elizabeth smiles, thinking about the time she had spent with Tabitha, all the adventures they had together.

Katerina stares in shock, eyebrows furrowing as she stares ahead. She starts to stutter, trying to form words as her mind goes into a haze. "Your.. favorite.." she shakes her head , confused.

When Elizabeth insisted that Katerina get a handmaiden and brought Tabitha, she would have never thought they had known each other. But now thinking back does she remember Tabitha stepping out every time Elizabeth had visited, coming back at the late hours of the night.

Katerina gasps in shock, her hand going to cover her mouth, eyes getting watery. Her heart aches and she steps back knocking into the dresser.

Elizabeth snaps up walking towards the other woman, "Katerina what-"

"No!" Katerina yells, tears falling from her eyes. Elizabeth steps back in shock, her face contorting in hurt.

"You- you-" she wails out grabbing hold of her hair. All this time Elizabeth came to her bedroom, seeking company, she had come for Tabitha.

"You have fooled me." she buffs wiping her tears. Elizabeth stands in silence, watching her every move.

All those walks in the forest and smiles and comfort. Katerina breathes heavily, thinking about yesterday, where she talked about her family.

"To make me think you had cared for me." she shakes her head, wiping her fallen tears as Elizabeth lifts her chin, stepping towards her.

"I cared for you? Katerina I do-"

"No, I want none of it." Katerina yells, standing straight. She feels her heart shatter at the expression on Elizabeth's face, anger slipping through her conscience.

She doesn't care for you.

"Katerina, stop this nonsense."

She all took pity upon you.

"I care for you more than I care for myself."

She never loved you.

"I love you Katerina."

Katerina lets one tear fall as she watches Elizabeth blink, speeding away. Elizabeth stiffens seeing an empty space in front of her.

She rushes out of her chambers, eyes rounding everyone, everywhere, looking for the woman with the brown hair and olive skin.

"Katerina!" She yells, stomach churning when she sees her nowhere in site. As Elizabeth searches, she thinks about their times in the garden, how happy Katerina seemed, how happy she felt.

Searching passed the garden she frowns deeply, biting her lip. She looks through the streets of her kingdom, pushing through and her eyrs start to burn.

She thinks back to their conversation, wondering where she had went wrong. Tabitha had told her how much Katerina talks about her, so fondly about her savior.

Elizabeth never asked Tabitha to seek information about her loves feelings, but Tabitha knew deep down that Elizabeth had too much respect to ask. And that to no end, touched the witches heart.

But now, standing on the outside of the gates of her kingdom, she regrets every second of it.
