LABYRINTH"My Queen."
Everything made her numb.
The scent of the room made her nose burn. The smell of lavender surrounded her and swallowed her whole as she sat there, waiting.
That's what she's been doing for who knows how long. She was just waiting.
She took note of the grandfather clock in the corner, each tick it made seemed to have slowed down time. She was in a daze, waiting to be awoken.
And not by her knight in shining armor, nor was it Nicholas, no.
She was waiting for the woman with the kind brown eyes, olive colored skin, beautiful long brown hair, kind smile, ones that so tauntingly haunted her in her dreams.
Ever since she left, Elizabeth didn't know whether she was awake or not. If she was still in her dreams.
Where she had her wrapped in her own arms.
When she heard her voice mumble things in her sleep.
Elizabeth felt her hand being taken and she looked up.
Zachariah stared at her with a broken heart. He had never known love but looking at his queen now, he knew not to bother her with opening up about quarrels she faced now.
Instead he held her hand in his, and gave her a smile.
The maiden who had been assigned to brush Elizabeth's hair sighed, her eyes filled with sorrow for her queen. But her sorrows were all a mistake as she spoke.
"You needn't worry now, Your Majesty. She will come back for you-"
"Enough." Zachariah spoke in worry, then looked at her in rage. He stood in front of his queen, who only smiled, and scoffed at the maiden.
"You may go." The maiden hurried out, apologizing endlessly.
Zachariah huffed out, looking down at his queen is disbelief.
"The nerve of that woman."
Elizabeth stifled a laugh, looking up at the man.
"She is a strong woman who I enjoy the company of." Elizabeth day still on her chair, eyes and mouth moving only. Zachariah took notice of that.
Nothing else moving.
"Elizabeth.."
Tears welled up in her eyes at the sound of her name. There was one person who called her that constantly filled her mind.
Zachariah kneeled down by her, a small smile on his face. "I miss her." The tears finally fell, and her heart was left open. Elizabeth made herself feel the pain that Katerina leaving had left.
Her memories consumed her, ones she banished to the back of her mind were now the only thing she saw.
Her love on her chest, the laughter she brought, the smile she received.
