                    LABYRINTH

Have you ever felt that explosion in the pit of your stomach, one that is caused by the person you've sparked an interest in, but the feeling you can't describe as good or bad? When people say to trust your gut, it can be the hardest decision anyone can make. They're gut feeling can be wrong and once you act upon it, your stuck.

Stepping past the pack of flowers, Elizabeth bites her tongue to stop herself from complimenting Katerina on it. They were beautiful, just like her.

"I am tired Liza. Can we settle for today?" Katerina whines, sweeping the sweat off her forehead, staring at Elizabeth in despair. Looking beyond the leaves, Elizabeth tries to find the message, getting a warm feeling in her chest as she glances at Kat. Liza?

Katerina smiles at Elizabeth softly, glad she was in the presence of such a woman. Although she'll never admit it, she does feel something for the older vampire. Just a small spark.

"We have to keep walking Katerina." Elizabeth say gruffly, trying to edge herself away from Katerina, causing her to smile.

Elizabeth didn't want the same thing to happen again. What happened to Tatia left her in ruins. Perhaps this time, she can save herself.

"That is all we have been doing! Walking and no speaking." Stoping in her tracks, she turns to look at Katerina, standing there, staring at her with confusion. "Wha-"

"No. You will admit that you have been ignoring me. I have done nothing but trust you like you wanted." With her arms crossed, she stares ahead, a conflicted look on her face.

"Do you want to trust me?" Elizabeth steps next to her, glancing at her from the corner of her eye. Looking away, she replies, walking away. "I am just doing as you asked."

Getting angrier by every word that comes out of her mouth, Elizabeth speeds in front of her, blocking her path. "Do you want me here? On your own acord, do you want me here?" Elizabeth say lowly, her face near Katerina's. "You will not be weak. You will stand tall and tell me what you want."

As Elizabeth speaks, Katerina looks at her with such intensity in her eyes. A little crease between her brows, yet still she looks as beautiful as ever. She looks to the side, her hair falling to her face, Elizabeth reaches out and pushes it behind her ear. Before she could move her hand away, Katerina takes it harshly, "Why are you here? Will you not go and live your life as you please?"

"I am just concerned-" she cuts Elizabeth off, pushing her away. "You do not care for me Elizabeth. You just want me to get into Niklaus' good graces."

Scoffing, she send her a smirk in irony. "Oh love, if you knew the truth behind that sentence of yours." She mumble, shaking her head. Turning to the side, Elizabeth catches sight of something red. From the side of her eye, she sees Katerina looking at her in frustration. Sighing, she walk graciously towards her, her head held high.

Looking down at her, Elizabeth searches her eyes for a sign, any emotion to place after what had just happened, but all she sees is emptiness. Built up walls surrounding a girl, hiding in the shawdows. She can only remember a time where she was in the same position. All the memories of torment taken place in the first days of being a vampire. People who once welcomed her with open arms backed away from in fear. She wasn't turned into a monster, she placed that title upon herself. Her demons had ruined her, just like Katerina's own is doing to her.

She steps back, eyes locked on Katerina. No one deserved that pain. Especially if you're a vampire. It will eat you alive.

Staring at her, she sighs, "I am worried is all."

Scoffing, Katerina steps away, running her fingers through her hair. "You have been quiet-"

"Quiet?" Katerina chuckles, cutting Elizabeth off, which she is getting very irritated by.

"I have been talking since our journey has started. You are the one who as been quiet, Elizabeth." Staring at that said girl, Katerina stares blankly at the woman. She doesn't understand. She did what she was asked, to trust her, yet here they are, vowturing for something she did not know of, because Elizabeth won't speak up about it.

She wanted to know everything going on in her mind. That is usually what you to know when you are around the person you have come to have feelings for.

Katherine didn't like Elizabeth at the moment. She wanted her to be open, so she can see what they have in common, if she liked the way the breeze moved the trees as much as she did. They were in the middle of the forest for goodness sake. Katerina couldn't help but take small breaks just looking at the trees.

"You just.." Katherine looks at Elizabeth innocently, causing Elizabeth's stomach to move. She was beautiful.

"I have not seen you mourn for your family since we fled Bulgaria." Elizabeth whispers, flinching when she sees Katherine freeze. Her hear ached, waiting for Katherine to yell at her, thinking about how Tatia would when she said the wrong thing.

But what she said, how she said it, left Elizabeth in a ocean of guilt.

"I shall mourn my family when I want and how I want, Elizabeth." Katherine stares ahead, not looking at Elizabeth once, which makes her want to crawl in a hole. You need to learn how to stop talking Elizabeth.

"I'm sorry." She gulps, staring down as she walks towards her goal. You made things more tense then they already are.

Grabbing her arm, both Elizabeth and Katherine's eyes widen slightly, feeling a burning sensation where their skin touch. Their eyes meet, and they smile at each other.

"I never thanked you." Katherine whispered, almost transfixed in Elizabeth's eyes.

Katherine can see the pain hidden behind the black haired girls eyes. She wanted to know what had cause the girl such pain. She wanted to know everything.

But Elizabeth wasn't in the type of pain Katerina was thinking. Elizabeth looks into Kat's eyes, her heart breaking in two, remembering the love of her life never looked at her in the eyes as intensely as Katerina is right now.

She was so in love with Tatia. And she left Elizabeth in unbearable pain. Not because she was in love with another.

Because she died.

"Anything for you Katerina."
