                         LABYRINTH

As the wind blew and trees ruffled, the castle remained silent. The people of England had had gone to church and some differ. It was no secret that the queen did not like going to church, but it was under suspicion as to why the Queen's maiden fellow had always gone.

"The people are asking questions of you." They were outside again. It seemed that they would always meet at the same time. Nothing planned. Katerina saw nothing of it, she was always there. It helped being near the flowers to get rid of her thirst. Elizabeth always helped her but as it seems, she was busy with her duties.

"And what might they be?" Elizabeth's gaze was sharp as she looked at Katerina. They were always like that Katerina noticed. There were times where her gazes were soft, but she'd always look away, too shy.

"I went to visit the church." Katerina whispered, her eyes on the flower in her hand, daisies. They were sat next to the row of flowers that overlooked the edge of the forest. Elizabeth sat beside her, listening to every detail she had to say.

"Yes, Tabitha has told me of your adventures outside the castle." Elizabeth picks up a sunflower, her fingers grazing it as she looked at it softly before speaking. "How was it?"

Katerina stares in awe at the scene in front of her. Elizabeth's skin was a beautifully pale, her hair black as the night could be. But it was her smile that made her face shine.

Balancing herself on her legs, Katerina shifts to sit with her legs crossed, looking at Elizabeth shyly. "It was..." She pauses looking forward, an intense look on her face.

Elizabeth glances at her, a small smile etched to her lips. She knew Katerina was still somehow learning English, and Elizabeth found it quite the site.

"Swell." Katerina face changes to one of anger and Elizabeth bites her lip to stop herself from smiling. She coughs trying to cover the laugh she wanted to get out, she looks at Katerina admirably.

"They people have said they have never seen you in chur-"

"You're English is getting much better." Elizabeth mutters out, taking hold of Katerina's hand, as her face flushes.

Katerina feels her skin start to feel warmer as she looks up. No matter how many times Katerina stares at Elizabeth, it's like she's seeing her for the first time. When she rescued her.

Lifiting her head she breathes in the air as the wind passes through her hair. Her brown locks flying being her, Katerina opens her eyes as they meet the blue sky and she smiles. "You do that often."

Elizabeth's gaze remains the same as Katerina continues, "You avoid."

As Katerina finishes, Elizabeth does something unexpected, leaving Katerina shaking in her spot. Elizabeth laughs, throwing her head back. Mindless of what to do, Katerina's mind wonders to Klaus. She remembers his laughing at something a fellow guest had once said before his entire aura changed.

Katerina blinks as she shakes slightly. She knees up and bows down, apologies spitting out of her mouth. Katerina's hands set down in front of her as her forehead lays on the grass.

Elizabeth freezes at the site in front of her and she grabs ahold of the woman and picks her up, her face in Elizabeth's hands. "What's happened?"

A tear slips out of Katerina's eye and Elizabeth becomes uncomfortable, not familiar with the emotion people call sadness.

Elizabeth hesitates before patting her on the shoulder, pulling her close, "there, there my darling." Elizabeth twitches a smile, looking down at the lady in her arms.

"All is well with me." Katerina draws back, her face flushed.

Elizabeth stammered with her next words, moving around uneasily. She didn't want Katerina to be bothered anymore. Taking a deep breathe, her eyes follow Katerina's movements, her eyes strictly on the grass on the other side of the garden.

"Would you like to attend the festival in the village with me?"

Elizabeth bites her tongue as Katerina flips her hair behind her, the sun shining down on her skin as she turns to face Elizabeth.

Katerina purses her lips, tilting her head to the side as she stands. "I'd love to." Elizabeth looks up at her, the sun hitting her eyes making Katerina smile.

"It's about time you step out of that castle." She giggles as Elizabeth lifts an eyebrow, not being used to anyone talking down on her.

She chuckles, speeding up to grab Katerina, throwing her over her shoulder.

Katerina gasps, covering her mouth from Elizabeth's back. "Elizabeth, what- someone could see."

Elizabeth ignores her pleas, walking into the castle chuckling. Glancing to the side Elizabeth smirks slightly before speeding into Katerina's room. Katerina jumps down from Elizabeth's shoulder, face red.

"What were you thinking Elizabeth? The villagers-"

"Calm down Katerina Petrova." Elizabeth smiles before leaving the room with a shocked Katerina.

"She is...not sane!"

Katerina gasps, covering her mouth. She listens closely to hear anyone near her but is left with silence. She walks towards her door, putting her ear on it, her eyes concentrated.

She was about to pull away when someone knocks and she winces slightly before smiling and opening the door.

"Good evening, Katerina." Zachariah appears causing Katerina to drop her opened arms.

She sighs before smiling at the man in front of her. "Hello Zachariah. What can I help you with?"

Zach chuckles shaking his head, "Nothing your majesty." Her eyes go wide and her chest moves forward as she hears him.

"Elizabeth had ordered me to keep you company. She has a meeting with the counsel she had forgotten about." Zachariah says, seeing her face drop. He chuckles internally, knowing the effect his Queen had on the woman in front of him.

Hoping to ease her mind he leans in slightly whispering, "Do not fret Katerina, our Queen is a wonderful woman that will love you endlessly."

Katerina takes a step back, her eyes glistening. She lets out a laugh, shaking her head. "I do not know what you speak of Zachariah."

Seeing her smile wide, Zachariah nods his head, knowing his job was done as she walks to her closet looking through it. Already knowing the thoughts running through her head he smiles.

"You can find me in the dining hall. The food is almost done."

Katerina nods her head, not turning around. She feels his gaze on her back until he finally leaves the room when she spins around, almost falling into her closet, "Oh dear." She says, a big smile on her face.
