                    LABYRINTH

The leaves crunched as it fell from the brown oak tress. It has been three days since the occurrence in England and till this very moment, Elizabeth longs for another one with Nicholas.

Men have been lining up for her hand at every stop they had made. Niklaus would just stand stiff and deny her to meet his gaze and Elijah, pushing her away.

She loved Nicholas. And she always will. He had treated her with such respect and honesty that no other man could ever. He cherished her for as long as she could remember.

In her dreams she think of him, but then all that leads to Niklaus slicing his throat open. Sometimes, when she looks at him all she sees is a monster, but she knew him better than that. He felt betrayed. Something they both hold dear to their hearts.

"Is Rebekah still alive and walking or did you decide that you've heard enough?"

She turns in time to see him smile before that no good smirk made it's way. Sometimes she feels like all he is doing is hiding behind a mask but then she see small signs of distress that he needs to release. But knowing Nik, that's a lost cause.

"Unfortunately no, she still walks." In the distance, Elizabeth can see torches being lit up as they past through the forest. "Where are we?" She whip her head around, hoping for answers from Nik, but her eyes only capture Elijah's. "Where's Nik?"

Elijah's face twist in shame, his head hanging low as Elizabeth sits patiently, scared of the vague look on his face. "Elijah.." he looks into Elizabeth's eyes, worry written across his face.

"Niklaus.. he-" he inhales sharply as he sees her eyes harden in anger. "What did he do?" Her voice low and dangerous, he swallows thickly, scared. "I do not want to upset yo-"

"Oh noble Elijah, you already have." Both of their heads snap up quickly at the sound of his voice and Elizabeth gasps at the sight in front of her. Letting go of her seat, she moves forward. "What has happened? Are you alright?" She asks, frantically searching his body for any injuries before stopping herself, knowing he'll heal quickly. She sits back only to stop at the smirk on his face. The smirk she has come too acquainted with.

"What have you done?" Her voice shakes, looking around the land they reside on, seeing a dead body on the ground. She covers her mouth with a gasp. Moving aside, Niklaus let's Elizabeth jump out of the carriage towards the body. Tears built up in her eyes, thinking about the family left behind him. The children who'd never meet their papa. The maiden he had married, his children.

"Where has your sanity gone?" She yells, gasping wildly. She turns to him in disbelief. Standing before her is a man she doesn't recognize. A man who shall be feared and on without love. She see before her, a man who has nothing to lose. Her dearest friend, long forgotten.

"What sanity my little Elizabeth?" He taunts her, walking circles around the body that lays there. "Here and now, I have not had sanity for quite long." His arms spread out mockingly. As she stare at him, she see the man who has been feared since the old world. The man who they all fear. She sees Mikael in his eyes. Tormenting him to a beast. A beast that has yet to be released.

"What has he ever done to you Niklaus? You cannot just kill innocents-"

"This man is hardly innocent. Casting away his daughter for having a child out of wedlock! The father of the Petrova doppleganger, who Elijah let get away-" she gasps, looking towards Elijah, whose face hangs in shame before turning back to him, "So no Elizabeth, he is hardly innocent and if you are looking for sanity," he continues, taking long threatening strides towards her, making her take ones back,"you are looking in the wrong place." He crashes their shoulders together, causing Elizabeth to scream in fright before dashing of into the carriage, setting off to leave.
