-Iwatobi High School-23 Days till Prefecturals-
Y/N sat in her assigned seat beside Rei and across from Nagisa. Her cheek was resting in the palm of her hand, (E/C) irises focusing in and out on the chalkboard as the teacher droned on and on about some math problem she honestly had no care for.
For the past three days she had been acting distant to the Iwatobi members, all of the males had taken notice of this, and were reasonably worried for her. Y/N wished she could say that she wasn't doing it on purpose, but that would've been a lie.
She was worried; worried about getting too attached to the males and Gou, worried about what the others would say when they found out she hadn't told them what she was this whole time, worried that if those people who were trying to take her key would hurt them just to get her to do what they want.
Y/N's attention was suddenly pulled to a conversation of whispers to her left.
Glancing over, she saw a group of three girls, who were grinning as they talked in loud hushed voices, as if they didn't care that they might be caught. Y/N was surprised when one of the girls suddenly looked in her direction and smirked, before going back to talking with the other two.
Y/N bit her lower lip and sat up a bit straighter. She had an idea what was going on, and tried to pay attention to the teacher, hoping it'd distract her.
It seemed, though, she wasn't the only one who was affected by the trio, as a certain blond and megane swimmer shared the same concerned expressions.

___Quick Time Skip___
"Come on N/N-chan!" Nagisa giggled, tugging Y/N out of the classroom in his excitement.
Y/N, breathless, followed the blond with no hesitance. She had only been with the Iwatobi Swim Club for three weeks, and was already used to Nagisa's childish antics.
"Nagi-kun." Y/N whispered when the two got to the lunchroom, tugging onto Nagisa's sleeve. "Why did we leave Tako-kun?" She asked when the excited blond glanced at her.
"We had to be first in line for the Iwatobi cream bread!" Nagisa cheered, pointing out the dessert like food as they stood, fifth, in the lunch line.
"Oh." Y/N blinked. "But Kou said not to eat those." She reminded the breaststroke swimmer.
Nagisa, seeming to deflate, pouted. "Just for today, N/N-chan!" He exclaimed, giving her big puppy eyes.
Y/N frowned, she hated when he used those eyes on her, it made her feel like she just kicked him or something. Pouting herself, she looked away from him. "Fine." She reluctantly agreed.
Nagisa shouted in glee as she approved, and happily bought five of the chocolatey breads.
As the two began to walk out of the cafeteria to eat on the rooftop, where they usually did during lunch with the others, a crowd of students began to fill into the room.
Y/N yelped as she was pulled away from Nagisa's hold on her and got lost in the crowd.
She opened her mouth to mutter out silent apologies as she tried to push past the crazy students, but probably looked like a pathetic fish out of water as nothing came out of her mouth.
Tears of frustration pricked at her eyes, and she eventually gave up and crouched into a defenseless ball, hoping the stampede of teens would just go around her.
But this is a fanfic and Author-Senpai is not that nice.
"Oi, out of the way, Mute!" Snapped a familiar voice.
Y/N, hesitantly, glanced up to see the group of three girls who were in her class. Keeping her lips closed tightly, the (H/C) looked back at the ground, continuing to stay in her ball.
I didn't think there were bullies in the human world too. The (H/C) thought, upset as she remembered how a lot of the other merpeople and sea creatures would talk behind her back, as well as in her presence, about how she was too curious of the human world. The worse times were when they brought up Awa and how she couldn't control Y/N.
The girls scoffed.
"Didn't know she was deaf too." Sneered one of the girls.
"Y/N!" A sudden shout startled the four females.
Named girl looked relieved when she caught sight of the frantic blond.
"There you are! Is there a problem?" Nagisa smiled innocently at the group, helping Y/N stand up and he wrapped his arm around her waist in a protective sort of manner.
"No." One of the girls snapped, before the three followed the rest of the crowd to the lunch line.
Nagisa led Y/N fully out of the cafeteria, never removing his arm from her waist, and even tightening his hold when more students came in.
"Y/N, you're alright, right? They weren't being too mean to you were they?" He worriedly asked once the two had gotten a safe distance away from the cafeteria.
Y/N smiled and shook her head. "No, I'm fine." She assured, voice slightly hoarse from almost crying.
Nagisa frowned, wiping a few stray tears from her eyes.
"I'm sorry, I should've held onto your hand tighter!" Nagisa looked the most upset that Y/N had ever seen him.
"N-no, it's fine, Nagi-kun!" Y/N exclaimed softly, holding both of his hands and looking at him seriously as he returned the look, except his cheeks were covered in a soft pink. "I was actually just surprised, I'm not used to this bullying." She admitted to him.
"Oh, because you were homeschooled, right?" Nagisa laughed softly.
He still hasn't figured it out. Y/N thought with her own laugh, as she smiled. "Right." She nodded.
"It's not usual here, so there aren't many bullies in this school, I promise! Now, let's go meet up with the others!" Grinned Nagisa, pulling Y/N to the stairwell that led to the roof.
"There you two are!" Makoto exclaimed in relief when seeing the two youngest swimmers emerge from the stairwell.
"Sorry! There was a lot of people in the cafeteria today!" Nagisa grinned as he rushed up to the other members of the swim team, Y/N in tow.
"Your eyes are puffy." Haru suddenly pointed out as the blond and (H/C) got to where they were sitting, staring at Y/N with his emotionless expression.
Y/N glanced at the blue eyed swimmer in surprise, before nervously scratching at her cheek.
"Was it those girls?" Rei suddenly asked.
Y/N, hesitantly, shook her head.
"What girls?" Makoto worriedly questioned.
"I-it's not a big deal." Y/N quietly stuttered out, frantically. "They just said some comments."
"Who are they?!" Gou shouted, a sudden dark aura surrounding her, and causing Y/N to hide behind Nagisa.
"I-it's ok, Kou." Y/N assured.
"Bullying is not ok!" Makoto and Gou cried out in sync.
"But it doesn't bother me..." Y/N murmured, suddenly looking at the group with a stern expression. "The only opinions that matter to me, is yours." She stated.
The group seemed shocked by the female's statement, struck by awe, before they all smiled at her.
Nagisa laughed and tackled Y/N into a hug, causing her to falter backwards and fall onto the gravel of the rooftop, and he rubbed his cheek against hers affectionately. "You're so cute, N/N-chan!" He cheered.
Y/N chuckled as Rei began to scold Nagisa, and she smiled as Nagisa stood and helped her back onto her feet.

---Extended Ending---
"Nagi-kun, where's the Iwatobi bread?" Y/N whispered to the blond.
"Huh?" Nagisa blinked, before looking around him frantically. He suddenly looked stressed out. "I left it in the cafeteria!"
