-Shrine-1 Day till Prefecturals-
"Rin-chan isn't swimming butterfly or relay? Is it because Haru-chan isn't in those?" Nagisa wondered aloud as himself, Makoto, Rei, and Y/N sat on the steps of the shrine that were visiting before the tournament.
"What does it matter if Haruka-Senpai isn't in an event?" Rei questioned in confusion.
"That's just how they are." Nagisa replied with a shrug of his shoulders.
"What's that supposed the mean?!" Rei asked in bewilderment.
"Now, now." Makoto chuckled, patting Rei's shoulder. "We decided to stick with individual events too, so we should focus on our strengths." Makoto insisted.
Rei frowned, looking a bit lost in thought. "I wanted to swim in a relay." He suddenly said, surprising the other three.
"You want to be in a relay, Rei-chan?!" Nagisa asked, excitedly.
"Hai, I rented a video on the Olypmics. It was beautiful to watch four athletes swimming different styles in succession to complete a race together. I was especially impressed by how beautiful the butterfly form was when touching the wall!" Rei exclaimed enthusiastically. "Personally, I think it's very important that your finish be beautiful, and this shows that athletes around the world feel the same way-" he began to rant, before Gou's cry of surprise stopped him mid sentence.
The four quickly rushed to where the other two were, before Gou pointed out Haru's luck fortune.
"Half-luck?" Y/N asked in confusion.
"Nani? What's going on?" Nagisa asked.
"Half-luck? Never seen that before." Makoto admitted, both arms crossed over his chest as he stared at the fortune.
"Does that mean half your luck is good?" Wondered Rei.
"What's the other half?" Y/N asked Rei, who shrugged to show his own confusion.
"Nice!" Nagisa cheered obliviously.
"That doesn't make sense." Murmured Rei in reply.
Y/N glanced at Haru in her confusion, before seeing how dazed he seemed.
She frowned and reached into her pocket where her own slip of paper had been stashed.___Quick Time Skip___
"Eh? Y/N?" Makoto questioned, suddenly stopping his walking with Haru right by his side when they both noticed that the (H/C) had suddenly stopped following them.
The sun had set a little after the group had seperated after their time at the shrine to go home, and Y/N had seemed to have stayed quiet ever since the fortune incident. Now the human-turned-mermaid had stopped and was now staring at the ocean.
"Y/N?" Said female glanced at the two as they rushed up to her. "Are you alright?" Makoto asked worriedly.
"You guys never asked me about my dream." She murmured, placing her hands on the wooden fence that separated the sand from the sidewalk they walked on.
"Dream?" The two males glanced at each other in confusion.
"I'll be turning back into a mermaid soon." Y/N stated seriously.
"What do you mean?!" Makoto asked, eyes widened.
"This necklace gave me the power to turn human." The female began, lifting the chain of the necklace that neither male had ever seen her without. "The gems are pink, and I have until they all turn blue. When that happens, I turn back into a mermaid. I don't know if I'll be able to turn into a human again or not." She explaind, looking at the key pendant with a frown. "Two of them have already changed color." Y/N frowned.
"There's only fourteen." Haru frowned as he looked at the colored gems.
"I know." Y/N seemed even more depressed.
The two were suddenly surprised when Y/N looked at them, tears filling her (E/C) colored eyes. "I don't want to leave you! Or Kou! Or Nagisa! Or Rei! I want to stay here and eat omlets! I want to learn as much as I can!" She cried out, covering both of her eyes as tears threatened to fall.
"H-hey, Y/N!" Stuttered Makoto, before pulling Y/N into a hug. He had no idea how to comfort a teenage girl, neither did Haru, but he did know how to comfort his little siblings and that would have to be enough for him. He didn't want to see the female crying.
Haru awkwardly stood to the side, while Y/N cried into Makoto's shirt.
"I'm sorry." Muttered Y/N as she pulled away from the older male, looking slightly bashful all of a sudden.
"It's ok!" Assured Makoto, looking just as shy.
"Y/N, why did you wait so long to tell us?" Haru cut into the awkward stare between his childhood friend and the female.
"I wasn't sure how I was going to tell you." Y/N admitted, before pulling a slip of paper out of her pocket. "But then I got this and decided it's better to just tell than to suddenly disappear." She told them.
The two boys looked at the slip, before noticing it came from the shrine, and in big bold letters was printed Bad Luck.
