Chapter 14Micah Grayson
School was out due to the Thanksgiving holiday and Micah had been cooped up in his room. He hadn't made one attempt to go downstairs once he found out his grandparents had arrived. If they knew what was best for everyone they wouldn't bother him.
Laying across his bed he listened to Cassie on the phone talk about how annoyed she was. She was also at home in her room, avoiding family that was obliviousl to what went on behind closed doors.
"Mic are you even listening?" Cassie asked him through the phone getting a feeling he wasn't paying her any attention.
With his eyes barely open Micah rubbed his chest. "Yea man I'm listening." He said slightly annoyed that she was questioning him.
"What did I say then?" Cassie quizzed.
"Ok I wasn't listening to that shit, but it sounded like a lot of drama." Micah said causing Cassie to laugh.
"Micahhhh." Cassie whined making him roll his eyes. "You never listen and you never talk. You just be wanting to hold the phone and breathe."
"What's wrong with that? You don't want a nigga to breathe or something?" Micah asked now fully active in the conversation.
Sucking her teeth Cassie shook her head as if he could see her. "I didn't say that. I was just saying that you could at least talk to me Mic. I actually enjoy how your voice sounds."
Smirking Micah sat up propping his pillow up behind his head. "Is that right?"
"Mmhmm." Cassie mumbled innocently.
"I'll work on it. What you got planned for later though?" Micah questioned curiously.
"Going over Mya's so I can get away from these fake people I call family." Cassie huffed.
Nodding his head Micah definitely knew what she meant.
Hearing a knock at his door caused him to suck his teeth and look that way, before focusing back on his conversation.
"Ion think I like that idea but aight imma hit you up later." Micah said hanging up the phone as he always did not caring to hear a response.
Pushing the cover off his body he stood and stretched his arms. Ignoring the light knocks at his room door as he slipped on his boxers.
Grabbing a pair gym shorts from his dresser he slid those on as well. Letting his socked feet slide across the all black hard wood floor Micah snatched his door open.
"What?" He said looking up to see his aunt Jess wearing her signature smile, before frowning and placing her hand on her hip.
"What? What is why aren't you dressed Mic?" Jess asked squinting her eyes as she folded her arms across her chest.
Leaning against the door frame Micah looked at her blankly. She knew exactly why he wasn't dressed.
"Ok that was a dumb question, but it's just brunch and then I promise you don't have to participate in anything else." Jess said with pleading eyes.
"I'm not even all that hungry." Micah said with a shrug.
He was definitely hungry, but he'd find something to eat later if it meant avoiding his grandma.
"She promised to behave Micah. I know you guys have a rocky past, but I prepared this and I really would like for you to join us all." She said pouting looking like his mother which made him cringe.
