Chapter 27:
Micah Grayson
A couple of weeks passed after the little incident with Cassie and Micah felt some type of way. He never wanted her to be scared of him because he never wanted to harm her. The thing was it really was hard for him to control himself at times.
Feeling like a complete jack ass once he was back in a state of calm he decided to let Cassie have her little space. At least that's what he was trying to do.
"What's up Micah?" Derrick asked dapping him up as he spotted him posted up at his locker.
The two were cordial every since the night out they had. Micah still didn't care for Tyler and knowing that Tyler kept his distance.
Giving Derrick a dry head nod Micah continued watching Cassie's every move. This was something he did often out of pure infatuation.
Looking between the two Derrick furrowed his brows. "Y'all got beef? Usually can't get y'all away from each other."
Shrugging his shoulders Micah chuckled lightly. He was cool honestly it was Cassie who wasn't seeing eye to eye.
"I'm giving her some space." Micah said beginning to walk in the same direction he noticed Cassie and her friends walk off in.
Catching up to him Derrick shook his head placing his hand on his shoulder. "You doing it wrong. You gotta let her do her thing and let her come to you. Following her only going to make her feel smothered." Derrick admitted not wanting to see Micah ruin his chance before he got it.
Sucking his teeth Micah let out a breath of frustration. He was tired of this game of cat and mouse and trying to compromise.
"How long that shit suppose to take? It's been two weeks already. How much fucking space she need?"
"Give it a little time. She'll come around." Derrick assured him not knowing what Micah had done to make Cassie so distant.
The entire day Cassie ignored Micah while he tried to pretend he didn't care. He had to deal with the evil looks he was receiving from students and teachers he didn't have time to be pressed with Cassie and her tantrum.
As much as he wish he didn't care he did and that was the only thing that kept him from jacking her up when she snatched away from him at lunch. There was many times when he wanted to physically harm her because she made him so upset, but he didn't have the heart to do it. He knew he couldn't live with himself if he did. So he fought hard with his inner demons to keep from harming her.
When school let out Micah stood outside smoking his cigarette as he listened to some kids discussing prom. He hadn't thought much about prom and was shocked that Cassie wasn't down his throat about it.
Waiting for her to exit the building Micah saw her walking toward the gym with Mya.
No longer wanting to give her space he tossed his cigarette before jogging over to them.
"Aye let me talk to you real quick ma?" Micah said grabbing Cassie by her elbow and pulling her toward him.
Feeling somewhat safe because they were in public Cassie kept her facial expression calm although she was terrified on the inside.
