The beginning of this chapter might seem familiar because I kept majority of it the same, but don't skip over it because it's technically a new chapter. I deleted the original chapter 54 and 55 so delete that from your memory. Okay good. I miss you guys and I love you all. This book turned out way longer than I expected lol but eventually Micah and Cassie will have to come to a close. Just a heads up there will be a time skip. ❤️
Chapter 54:
Cassie Grayson (April)
Letting her eyes adjust to the light that flickered on and off from the bathroom Cassie slowly sat up in the bed. Letting her eyes take the room she saw no sign of Micah but she did see the mess he'd made.
There were clothes amongst other things that belonged to them scattered along the floor. Pushing the covers off the bed with her feet Cassie tried to figure out her next move.
The bathroom light kept flickering on and off as the door was cracked. The last thing Cassie wanted was a confrontation with Micah. Feeling the familiar eerie chills creep up her spine Cassie slowly crept out of the bed.
Looking around the bedroom and checking the bathroom she found no signs of Micah, which was a relief.
Closing and locking the bedroom door Cassie changed out of her sleeping clothes and into some jeans and a shirt. She packed a small bag of things that included her credentials along with Max's, and some money she'd saved up. After gathering it all in the dark Cassie searched for her keys that she probably wouldn't find because her husband hid them when he felt like she'd leave him.
"Fuck." Cassie mumbled lowly to herself before finding the courage to slowly open the bedroom door and head down stairs.
Her heart was beating increasingly fast as she prayed Micah had left the house early. Creeping down the stairs Cassie held her backpack over her shoulder with a tight grip.
The down stairs was dark so she had to be careful not to trip over anything. Going into the nursery she grabbed a few things for Maddox before closing the door quietly behind her once she was finished. All she needed now was her keys.
Trying her best to see in the dark, Cassie accidentally stepped on one of Blue's chew toys causing a loud squeaking noise to echo through the house. In turn blue began to bark causing Cassie to bite down hard on her lip as she tried to get the dog to be quiet.
"Hey boy. You have to be really quiet for me okay?" Cassie whispered while rubbing his fur to calm him, and to let him know it was just her.
Finally getting blue quiet Cassie took a deep breath before walking to the front door. She'd sayer to hell with finding her car keys. She needed to get out of there and fast. As she was going to open the door she heard her phone ring on the kitchen counter causing her to quickly run to grab it.
As she grabbed the phone she saw Maya's name on the screen. She was going to ignore it and answer it once she was out the house. Cassie soon regretted grabbing the phone as she felt the presence of a body press up against hers.
Feeling tears brewing in her eyes Cassie's breathing became hitched. She knew she wasn't going to be able to leave, and she was terrified of what could happen.
"Answer it!" Micah instructed as Cassie obliged slowly sliding her finger across the phone screen.
"He-hello?" Cassie stuttered as she felt Micah grip her waist tightly letting his nails press into her skin.
"Hey baby, I was calling because Max is running a little fever. We were going to take him to the emergency room just to be on the safe side. He keeps grabbing at his ear so I'm thinking it's an ear infection that's causing the fever." Maya said calmly as Maddox could be heard hollering in the background.
