I opened my eyes to see Alex looking straight at me showing no emotion. “We have to go because it will get very hot later,” he said and walked away. I thought why and then remembered that we were going on a date basically. I wondered where he slept last night? I saw Zack walking past and tapped his jeans since we were on the lowest bunk. He looked down and smiled.

“Good morning Katie,” he said.

“Good morning Zack. Where did Alex sleep last night?” I asked.

“Erm…I’m not quite sure I think where we all left him. I heard him opening a bottle of wine and then put the TV on to see something about space. Don’t worry that what he normally does but I’m surprised he was up earlier then all of us actually.” Zack said and I nodded my head thanking him. I got my clothes and got changed in the toilet after my shower. I decided to dry my hair naturally since it goes into natural waves but other times it goes really curly. I straightened it every day so this will be changed for the guys as well. I got changed into a summer flowery dress and gladiator sandals. I brought my sun shades with me and walked out the bus to see Alex waiting for me there. He pulled his sun shades down his nose and checked out and then grunted. We started walking into the city and it was a lovely place, the people were so nice and lovely beaches too. We walked in silence and it was quite awkward and I decided to start the conversation. “It’s a nice place isn’t it?” but I got no response instead he walked further than me. I looked at my phone to see it was only midday and we have 5 hours left before the guys have to go to sound check. He sat down in front of the fountain. I sat beside him and he looked at me and then looked away. “Have I done something wrong?” I asked and he stayed silent. “Was it what I said about your family last night?” I asked.

“It doesn’t matter now Katie,” he finally responded.

“Yes it does. I want to know what I’ve done wrong and why it hurt you,” I said. He turned round to face me and then looked into my eyes as he took off my sun shades off my face.

“Fine, the reason I don’t like talking about my family is because I never see them. In fact my older brother that I looked up too committed suicide when I was 12. That’s why I hate talking about them,” he said sadly and looked down to his rose tattoo on his hand. “This tattoo is my favourite, because I know he will still be with whenever I go hence why it’s on my hand,” he said and smiled. “I remember the time when he taught me to play football (American football) in the front garden,” he laughed and I smiled letting everything out instead of bottling them in and this was the proper time Alex and I have had a heart to heart conversation and we’re enemies. He wiped a tear from his eye and I rubbed his forearm as he looked at me and smiled. “Thanks,” he said.

“It’s okay and I’m sorry to hear. I now know what I shouldn’t say in front of you now,” I smiled.

“What about you? I heard you talking last night as I was going to the toilet,” he asked and I looked down now it was my turn to open up and I don’t normally do this to people because I know I will get hurt but I have to return the favour right?

“My parents died in a car accident when I was four,” I said and looked down.

“I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have brought that up-“

“Its fine I have to open up more and I guess I should start now,” I giggled. “My grandma took me in and looked after me ever since. Now she’s battling cancer when I was 18 and I don’t really want her to die just yet. I’m not ready you know? When you’re ready do something but it comes round unexpected? Well that’s my worst fear,” I sniffled not even noticing that I was crying. He looked at me and rubbed my shoulder as I chuckled and wiped the tears. “It’s a good thing I’m not wearing any eye makeup,” I said lightening up the atmosphere and he chuckled.

“Let’s go and do something…fun,” he winked and I widened my eyes wondering what is going to happen. We walked along the beach and saw a plane with people around it. He took my hand and pulled my hand with him as we walked through the crowd and the people in black introduced themselves to Alex and I. They didn’t tell us what was going to happen but got us into black suits and harness until we got told a few actions and what we were doing was extraordinary. We were going sky diving and I hate this because I hate heights.

“Fuck you Alex,” I shouted at him furious but he chuckled and gave me the middle finger. I tied my hair up and got into the plane as we sat on the floor with the experienced guy behind me and I was the first one to jump out yay. The doors closed and the plane turned round and soon into the air. I looked at Alex as he smiled.

“Don’t worry it will be fun,” he said and held my hand for comfort as I ripped it away and gave him the middle finger.

“I hate heights and I don’t want to die right now thank you very much,” I said and cursed quietly.

“Honestly you have loads of protection you won’t die but have fun and I will see you down there,” he smiled and I looked at him and then smiled.

“I believe you but if I don’t have fun you are screwed Alex Gaskarth,” I ordered and he laughed as the door opened and we shuffled across the floor until my legs were hanging over the plane. “Just get this over and done with.” I said to the guy and we jumped out really fast and I screamed in horror until we shot up into the sky as I wooed at actually how fun it was. I looked all of Adelaide and smiled at the view and before I knew it we landed on the ground and I smiled thanking the guy giving him a hug. I looked up and looked at Alex falling out the plane and did the same after the few minutes they landed and I smiled running over and giving him a big hug.

“Oh my gosh Alex it was so fun I think I’ve overcome the scared of heights. Thanks for this,” I said mumbling into his hug and squeezed him as I smiled that he was alive but I noticed what I was doing and awkwardly moved away sheepishly smiled.

We walked away after getting out the suits and harnesses and walking back into the city. “Why don’t we get something to eat?” Alex asked and I nodded my head and walked into a nice restaurant.

We walked to the table and there were rose petals on the table and a bottle of the finest champagne and we sat opposite each other. “I like it Gaskarth.” I said smiling.

“I had to make it nice don’t I?” he smirked and I rolled my eyes laughing. We ate our food and walked back to the venue for the guys to do sound check and I smiled at the nice day I had with my enemy.
