Ch4: Welcome

Morning arose as I toss over on this single bed making sure I don't fall over of how small this bed size is. Shay was still sound asleep so I got up making sure not to make a sound. It was only 5:38am which gives us a lot of time to get ready for our first day of classes. I couldn't go back to bed so I decided to stay up and let Shay sleep for a bit longer. I head over to the window and look out observing the new scenery that I'll look at for the next 6 years. After glimpsing around I pulled out our new uniforms, quickly changing into them. Shay suddenly woke up as she sat up only seeing me adjust my shirt.

"You look decent," she smirked hopping out of bed.

"Not a fan of the uniforms but it'll do. Good morning by the way. How'd you sleep?" I ask tying my hair into a high ponytail.

"You'll get used to it, and I slept good. Fell asleep right away. So excited and nervous for today though are you?" She replied, fixing her bed.

"I'm nervous and scared." I whisper. She walks over to me and places her hands on my shoulders.

"Why you scared?"

"Well, we're newborn vampires Shay. We never believed these things existed nor be living to this day. These were stories that mom told us about when we were kids. We thought they were just fairy tales. It's a lot to take in don't you think?" I reply walking away from her. I grab her uniform and hand her it so she can change while I go fix my bed.

"I understand, but it's our life's now. That's why we're here to learn. Mom will-"

"Mom will what Shay? She lied about this entire thing, about vampires and such. This place was suppose to be a fairy tale not reality. You can forgive her for all this but I don't think I will." I reply cutting her off as I sat on a the bed.

"Look, don't overpower it. Mom was just protecting us and this place, just don't over think alright?" Shay smiled as she gave me a small hug.

"Sorry, it just-"

"Yeah I get it. Come on, we only have 1 hr until our first class. Let's go grab something to eat." says Shay as she pulls me by my hand heading out of the room.  

We walk back towards the manor and straight to the grand hall were most of the students were already seated and eating. We then notice our house table so we slowly walked over to take our seats and begin to eat. Other vampires were surrounding us probably like 60-70 people that were once fledglings like us. Shay and I were eating when one of the house mates spoke up.

"So you girls are the descendants right?" a small girl said.

"Yes we are, our mother is the mistress." Shay replied while she bit into her toast.

"Really? So does that mean we bow down to you's too or obey what you guys say?" She asked. Everyone at our table turned to listen in.

"Not at all. We are normal students like everyone here, just treat us like other students. Not loyal people because we ain't." I harshly reply back not knowing the way I said it when everyone around our table looked at me. She slouched into her chair and put her head down to look at her feet when Shay nudged me.

"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to sound all- ugh mean." I whisper leaning over to reach her hand.

"My sister is not having a good morning. Don't mind her at all." Shay replied making everyone around us more understandable. I smile at the girl when I thank Shay for explaining because she was right. I mean I'm excited to be here, I'm ready for this outcome but then again like I said to Shay this morning it's not easy to take in for any of this. For me anyways. Shay seems to be more excited than I am.
