"It's better to leave then to be replaced."

Do you know that feeling, when you wake up and you just feel happy. Like genuinely happy. It's like for a few seconds, you actually forget about anything that's going on in your life.
But then those seconds are gone, and you suddenly remember who you are, where you are, and what's going on in your life. It's as if all of the happiness, well at least for me, got sucked out.
That's what happened to me this morning when I woke up to a text from Grayson saying, "I haven't seen you in a while, we should catch up". It had been three weeks since we had last seen or spoken to each other, which was at the Halloween party where he was feeling up Madison. Three weeks may not seem long, but when you've had Grayson nagging you for two months, it's long.
However, I had been hanging out with Noah more, and I now admit that I wrongfully judged him before. He wasn't a whore, I mean he was still a teenage boy, but he respected me. Last week me and him tagged along with Maggie and Jesse at the movies. Me and Noah were in line to get snacks, and we just so luckily, happened to be in back of Grayson and Madison.
Grayson tried talking to me but I just gave him a nod of acknowledgement. I guess Madison noticed and she proceeded to scold me, in which Noah noticed and he put his hand on the small of my back.
That was a week ago, and Grayson had just now decided to text me. Not one word since then. He just stopped talking to me, like many others have before.
Something about walking to school, just walking in general, clears my mind, especially when it's windy. It's like all my problems leave along with the wind. Arizona didn't offer me this. Arizona was hot and dry and barren and it had things I didn't want to remember.
A smile grew on my face once I saw Noah talking with Maggie and Jesse. He seems to get along with them, really well. Noah's eyes lit up even more, if that was even possible, once he saw me walking towards them.
"Hey Amnesia." Noah slung his arm around my shoulder, causing me to make a look of confusion. Maggie noticed this and a bright smile grew on her face. I'm pretty sure I was as red as a tomato.
I felt Noah tense up once Ethan and a few of his friends walked by in front of us. Ethan nodded his head towards Noah as a way of saying hi. I saw that famous devilish smirk that the Dolan twins share appear on Ethan's lips
"I'll catch you later, alright?" I frowned slightly that Noah had to leave, but I refused to be one of those clingy people. "Ok-" once I felt Noah's lips on my cheek anything I was planning to say just vanished. Noah said bye to Maggie and Jesse and walked towards the back of the school. Once Noah was out of sight, Maggie wasted no time in squealing like a pig.
"Well that was unexpected." Maggie bumped my shoulder with hers playfully. "Y-yeah I was not expecting that at all." I turned towards Maggie to see her pearly whites shining bright, but Jesse's face was quite the opposite. He had little to no emotion, and the little emotion that you could see was annoyance.
"Is that the first time he's kissed you-" Maggie stopped mid sentence and seemed to have her eyes fixed on something in the background. Jesse's once annoyed face was now filled with pity mixed with empathy.
I turned to see Madison getting out of a sleek, black Lexus. Shortly behind her was Grayson, holding her one of a kind bag. All of the butterflies that once filled my stomach suddenly vanished. Something about Grayson changed. He didn't have that same glow that he had when ever he walked into a room. Instead, he carried himself with a dark cloud hanging over his head.
Everyone's eyes were on them and all I could feel was anger. Anger that Madison thought she could parade him around like a dog, anger that he dissed me all of these weeks for her, anger that he thought I was desperate enough that I would just forgive him for all those weeks of silence.
Once the bell rang, the crowd slowly dispersed and I lost sight of them. Me, Maggie, and Jesse walked into the school in silence.
