Something About Septimus

12 - This is Halloween

The next two months passed by without any incident.

Septimus never uttered a single word to me in that time and neither did he speak to any of his brothers. Spencer told me that he was like this before I arrived in this town and their whole family got used to him being silent for weeks on end maybe saying one word per week. But then when I suddenly appeared Sep began talking and it baffled everyone. And now that Septimus and I had a very awkward encounter, he went back to his old ways.

Everyday for the past two months I see or hear Septimus leaving his house every night and he wanders off into the woods to go by his tree and I've followed him every time. That's not creepy is it? Well anyway, he climbs the tree every night (except one night which was really weird) and he just sits there staring at the moon. Sometimes he sings or talks to himself. Sometimes that weird raven even shows up and he talks to that too. I tried to keep my distance most of the time, staying back and in the shadows.

There's something about him that really intrigues me...but I don't know what it is yet. Why would he come out here every night? And why does that raven so interested in him...and me too. I've seen it everywhere lately and it creeps me out.

Well...enough about Septimus.

Spencer and I were now official for over a month and I was practically at his house 24/7 with my mother spending more and more time at the hospital. Sarah and Silas never complained about my presence so I'm guessing that they were OK with all of it.

The other brothers were normal as always. Sam was never at the house while I always was. Sean continuously flirts with me, even in front of Spencer. He's perfectly fine with it as long as I don't do it back and he knows that Sean means nothing by it. Also the twins teased me and confused me as usual but now it was easier to tell them apart.

But the strange thing was...Seth was getting more and more distant. When I first met this family I was expecting him to be the one who was closest to me. But all he did was spend time with Trina and he was very suspicious whenever someone asked him what he was doing with her. There were bags under his eyes and he came home late every night or not at all. I only knew that because I also was out late following Septimus.

There were so many mysteries I wanted to find out. Like why does Septimus go to that tree every night? Why hasn't anyone told me anything yet and also what is up with both Sep and Seth? I knew I would get to the bottom of everything eventually no matter how long it took me.

Kaitlyn was her usual self. Bubbly, happy, and always talking. She too spent a lot of time with me at my neighbors house but she always avoided Septimus and he avoided her. I still really want to know what went on between them when I was outside his room before...that moment happened.

And now that I'm done explaining about the past...lets talk about the present.

Today was October 31st. Halloween in Hollowvale. Kinda funny huh?

Everyone was making a big deal out of it...especially Kaitlyn who was forcing me to some school Halloween party that they held every year. Spencer told me to stay indoors tonight and he offered for me to stay at his place (like I do almost every night) and we would sit on his bed watching a marathon of horror movies until the popcorn made us sick. He wanted to do that because 1. it was Halloween and 2. because everyone in his household would be out somewhere and whenever Spencer and I wanted some alone time some sibling had to barge in and ruin the moment.

 I was perfectly fine with that idea but Kaitlyn wasn't.

So now the horror movie marathon idea is gone and Spencer and I (and Kaitlyn) have a date with the whole school dressed up in ridiculous costumes. Yippee.
