Old New Life

Chapter Thirteen.

After I've eaten my crackers with Nutella I see my aunt walking my way.

"Good morning" she says to me and smiles. "Good morning" I smile back. "I was thinking about visiting Rose this weekend.." I say to my aunt. "That sounds fun" she replies. "So I thought, I can sleep there as well and then come back Sunday evening" "You really thought it through did you?" "Yes, kind of" "Well I think it's a great idea" my aunt smiles. "Okay, then it's settled, I better call back Rose to tell her the news" I say and go upstairs.

I call Rose and tell her that I am coming over for the weekend. Rose is so happy which makes me laugh. She sounds like a little child who's parents just told her that they're going to Disney World.

"Guess who I just ran into" Rose says after a few minutes of her being a little to excited for this weekend. "I don't know.. Calum?" I joke and I hear Rose sigh "No I wish tho" she says and I laugh. Rose is a big 5 Seconds of Summer fan, I always like to tease her with that. "But I saw Thomas and Nigel" she says. "Okay.. And why would I care?" I ask "Thomas is a jerk".

We know Thomas and Nigel from school. We basically know each other all our lives, since we were little. The four of us always played together during and after school. But Thomas has turned into a massive jerk over the years.

"They asked about you" Rose says. "And? What did you tell them?" I ask. I am secretly kind of curious of why they would care to ask about me.. "I told them you moved" Rose explains but I know Rose to well to believe that that is the only thing that she told them. "And what else?" I ask her and Rose sighs again. "I gave them you number.." Rose says guilty. "You what?! Why would you do that?" "Nigel asked it and I didn't think it would matter that much" Rose defends herself and now it's my time to sigh. "It's okay, it's not like they're actually gonna text me or something" I say, hoping it to be true.. I think.

Rose and I have a whole conversation about everything and nothing before we finally hang up about one or two hours later.

A few minutes later I get a text from an unknown number..

Unknown: Hey Blair, It's Nigel. I heard you moved away, that's too bad.. I was just wondering how you were doing? :)

It save Nigel's number in my phone and start texting him back.

Blair: Hey, I'm doing fine actually, how about you?

Nigel: I'm great, so where in the world do you live now?

Blair: City called Bardstown, it's quite small and everyone knows everyone.. except me, I feel weird.

Nigel: haha don't worry, you're not weird :)

Umm.. Was that a flirt?

Nigel: I mean, you just have to get adjusted

Blair: yeah, I guess..

Nigel: I was actually wondering if you would like to go out with me someday.. but now you've moved away so...

Oh..

Blair: yeah umm.. I don't know.. sorry

Nigel: It's okay

Blair: You are a nice guy, really, but I don't know if I'm ready...

Nigel: It's okay B, I get it, don't worry

I feel so bad for rejecting him like this..

I decide to cler my mind and put my phone in my pocket to go downstairs again. "I'm going for a walk" I shout to my aunt in the livingroom. "Have fun" she shouts back and I go outside.

I walk outside and enjoy the sun and the cool summer breeze when I see Darren coming outside from a bookshop. I consider walking over to him but then I see he's with a girl. He is holding the door open for her and they're laughing. I run away around the corner before he can see me. He has a girlfriend? I feel so embarrassed!

I take my phone out of my pocket and text Nigel.

Blair: actually, I changed my mind, this weekend I'm going to Rose so if you'd like we could go out then

Nigel: are you sure?

Blair: 99.9% sure :)

Nigel: cool, I'll text you the details later :)

I go back home to pack all my stuff for the weekend. I'm kind of nervous.. I haven't been on a date for so long. I just hope it will go quick.
