*Carly's POV*
Madelyn and I were sitting at the table, eating...well, more like talking. Mom had went back upstairs, without warning. I didn't worry much, she could have something to do. We finished our cereal and put our bowls in the sink before heading back upstairs to our room. I flumped on my bed and hassled with my laptop. Just as I was about to go on YouTube, I heard what almost sounded like a whimper.
Madelyn looked at me, and I looked at her.
"That wasn't Herp...or Derp," she said, and I nodded in agreement. We heard it again, and then it was full-on crying. Was mom upset? We stopped what we were doing and slithered into her room, and there she was on the bed, holding her and dad's wedding photo and the ring she had took off and flung at dad the night of the argument. He returned it by mail.
We sat on either side of mom, and I said, worry overflowing me,
"Mom, it's okay. Please don't cry."
She turned to me, tears flowing down her face like a dam off a river, and just shook her head.
"The reason my eyes are usually red in the morning...is because I cry myself to sleep," mom whispered, sniffling.
A light gasp came from Maddie and I, and Madelyn said,
"Mom, why do you cry over dad? He did nothing but hurt you, broke your heart. Why should you be sad?"
Mom turned to look at Maddie, and she replied,
"It's because I love him so much, and he hurt me like that. Fought with me bad...then went and cheated on me the day after. And tried to say it wasn't what it looked like!"
She had a point, and I just sighed. I loved dad, he always took care of my sister and I. But what he did was wrong. Either way, I still didn't want my dream to come true. Mom would just be even more depressed.
Rain started to pour, and it made the day more gloomy. Madelyn and I sat on the bed with mom the majority of the day, comforting her and trying to make her smile shine bright like the sun. But it didn't shine once.
