James

James glances over his shoulder at Alice, she had insisted on riding her own horse this time. Reluctantly James gave in, but he made sure she got the calmest and easiest horse to ride. She doesn't know that though.

She seems to be doing fine. Although she has the saddle horn in a death grip, there's a huge smile on her face. The wind, whipping through her red hair, makes it look like there is a trail of fire behind her.

James looks forward just as Jackson and Mason stop their horses. He pulls up on the reins and his horse skids to a stop, snorting in protest. James reaches down and pats the horse on the neck once he comes to a complete stop,

"Sorry buddy." He says.

He looks up to see overgrown and half decayed building a hundred yards away. Ruins of building surround one giant building, which James assumes is the mall. Bushes and trees grow through the cracked pavement stretching out in front of them, making the area look like a jungle.

James looks to his right as Alice stops her horse next to him. "Well, that tip was right." She says.

"Partly. There's a mall, but that doesn't mean there's anything worth our time in there." James says.

A few feet in front of them Mason turns around in his saddle and says, "We're going to walk from here. Who knows what's living in there, we don't want to spook the horses."

James nods and slides down out of the saddle. He turns and looks up at Alice.

"I think I can get down by myself." She says, though she sounds a little unsure.

"You did get up there by yourself. Sure, you had a stool to help. But gravities on your side getting down." James says encouragingly.

Alice sticks her tongue out at him. She unhooks her feet from the stirrups and swings one leg over the saddle. Slowly she slides down to the ground. Once her feet are firmly planted she turns around and smiles up at James.

"I did it." She says. A strand of hair falls into her face.

James is hit with a sudden urge to brush the hair out of her eyes. Instead, he shoves his hands into his pockets and puts on a smile. "Yes, you did." He says enthusiastically.

"Thank you for your false enthusiasm." Alice says sarcastically.

"No. I'm really proud of you. You have grown up so much in these three hours." James says, trying to keep his voice serious.

Alice gives him a playful shove. He sticks his tongue out at her and she rolls her eyes.

"I'll tie these two up." James says turning around. He grabs the reins of her horse and his horse and leads them over to a group of trees by a small patch of grass. Rixton is already there tying up his horse. When James approaches Rixton takes one of the horses and helps tie it up.
