Rixton
"Not a good idea." Rixton moans. He opens his eyes only to close them again because of the bright sunlight.
"What?" Alice mumbles, sounding half asleep.
"Sleeping on the ground. Everything hurts." Rixton opens his eyes again.
Alice sits up and looks down at him. "How is it?" She asks as she gently touches the spot where he got shot.
Rixton pushes himself up on his elbows. His muscles and joints scream at him in pain. "It's okay. It still hurts, but the painkillers keep the pain bearable."
Alice slips her hand under the hem of his shirt and pushes it up to reveal his stitches. She runs her fingers over them, sending a chill up his spine. He closes his eyes and tilts back his head. When the pressure of her fingers disappear, he opens his eyes to find her eyes inches from his. He smiles and she smiles back.
"Hey there." Rixton says softly.
"Hi." Alice whispers back. She leans in and presses her lips against his.
He sits up straight and slides his hands into her hair. She shifts around so that she's sitting on his lap, her knees straddling his hips. He lets out a sigh and she leans in closer to him.
Rixton is the first to break the kiss. He pulls away from Alice then says. "We should get going."
Alice nods her head and stands up. She offers her hand to Rixton and helps pull him to his feet. Once standing he stretches his arms above his head and yawns.
"Should we clean this up?" Alice asks looking around at all the candles.
"I'll get it later." Rixton says as he steps onto the first stepping stone.
Alice gives him a frown. "You sure? I can help you."
Rixton stops on one of the stepping stones and shakes his head. "I set it up, I can take it down."
Alice rolls her eyes, but doesn't argue. Instead she follows him across the stones. He pulls open the curtain of branches for her and she steps through. Once he joins her, he takes her hand in his. She smiles up at him and together they make their way back to the house. They follow the trail of now unlit candles until they get to the edge of the hedge maze.
"I don't want to go back." Alice whispers.
Rixton glances down at her. They stand next to a small cherry tree just inside the hedge maze.
"I know." Rixton says gently. He reaches over with his free hand and brushes a strand of hair out of Alice's face.
Alice closes her eyes. "We should probably split up." She says after a second pause.
