Chapter twenty-seven

His expression was the first thing that caught me off guard.

What's he so happy about?

Although I could see that his smile didn't reach his eyes. He was faking it.

"Hey Siea" he exclaimed and walked over to me before giving me a hug.

I frowned slightly in confusion but greeted him back nonetheless.

"Hey Dad." I placed my hands on his back for the sake of seeming normal.

"How have you been? I missed you" he pulled back and looked at me with the smile trained on his face.

I gave a fake smile of my own.

"Quite fine dad. I missed you too. What brings you here?" I replied in a normal tone of voice.

"Oh I came by to discuss some business with Jacob. What about you, what're you doing here sweety?"

Right. He didn't know.

"I'm staying over for a few days cause my company got me a project with Jacobs son's." I replied, casually.

"Alright then I'll be leaving now. You take good care of yourself okay?"

I nodded in response and let him walk passed me. I heard him greet Carter before he left.

"Why was he acting so normal?" I asked Carter in a low voice.

Suddenly, my eyes widened while I raced inside the mansion.

"JACOB! JACOB WHERE ARE YOU?!" I yelled out as loud as I could.

I watched all the son's run out from different rooms but didn't see Jacob anywhere.

"Where's Jacob" I gritted my teeth to hold in my anger.

"Your father and him went upstairs to the library to talk. We didn't see him-"

The rest of Clives sentence drowned out while I made my way upstairs as swiftly as I could.

The white door cracked off its hindges but held on, when I pushed it open with as much force as possible. I knew my dad would lock it.

The panic in me kept rising while I frantically searched around the room.

"The fuck do you need such huge library for" I muttered in annoyance and searched every single section.

My feet froze, the minute I heard shallow breathing coming from behind the very last shelf. I immediately ran over to it and found Jacob laying against the wall, in a pool of blood.

"GUYS GET UP HERE! HURRY UP!"

I yelled out, making my way to an injured Jacob.

My chest felt like it was being crumpled like a paper when I noticed his bleeding form.

I immediately took off my hoodie, ignoring the tears that blurred my vision. I wrapped the hoodie tightly around his waist where the stab wound was, right when all the boys reached me.

I stepped back and watched while three of them carried Jacob up and out of the room.

My back hit the wall and I sat down on the floor, my legs too weak to hold up my weight in the moment.

Why did I feel like I did right then?

I was clueless of what the answer was or any possibilities that could lead to it.
