Chapter thirty-nine

The silence in the room flooded through the house, the boys had returned about an hour ago and had a bit more life in them than they did when they left.

"Guys...?" I hesitantly spoke, stepping down from the stairs and into the living room.

All of them looked up at me and gave a genuine smile each.

"Am I to expect anyone to go nuts here? Or is it safe to walk further than this point" I smirked, making an attempt to lighten the room.

And by the looks of it, I had done a pretty good job.

I smiled as the guys laughed. Walking further ahead, I sat down next do Clive who was playing Call Of Duty and grabbed a controller.

"Okay guys I've decided on something" Charlie clapped his hands, gaining everyone's attention.

I just bent my head back and looked at his face upside down. He shook his head at me in a you're-hopeless expression and I just responded with a shrug.

"Every year on dad's death anniversary, we're gonna go out on a road trip, in his memory because as we all know, he always was crazy about them." He wiggled his eyebrows after finishing his sentence.

"I already asked if it was safe to walk in, should have said no earlier" I mumbled and looked back at the game.

Not long after, I felt a smack at the back of my head.

"Ow!" I yelped, turning around and glaring at Clinton.

"Now don't go bat shit crazy on me but you desearved that" he countered with a smirk of his own.

"Then you guys should stop acting like hyenas on crack" I retorted.

Getting up, I started walking into the kitchen until two strong arms sound around my waist and pulled me back into a warm chest, confirming to me that it was Carter.

"Let go of me" I groaned, trying to pry his hands away from my waist but he wouldn't have it.

Instead, he leaned down and placed a kiss on my neck, making me stop instantly.

"Not fair" I mumbled and huffed while the other guys took their sweet time in snickering at my weakness.

"So shall we start packing?!" Chris perked up excitedly.

"Fine" I grumbled again, hearing the boys cheer.

"Thank you..they really needed this" Carter whispered into my ear, turning my around to face him with a smile on his face.

I sighed and nodded, a smile eventually making its way to my face.

Wrapping my arms around his neck, I leaned up on my toes and rested my forehead on his, instantly finding happiness and comfort in him.

"Alright come on get your asses back up them stairs and start packing!" Charles hollered and ran up to his room, followed by the others.

The idea of having four brothers hadn't really settled into me that quick but I was getting used to it. Getting used to calling them my brothers.

That being said, I could still detect the sadness in their voices even when they spoke of the road trip but I could tell that they were trying hard to make things better for everyone. So I went along with it. After all we were born to put emotions behind us in a split second. Some feelings just took more than split second.

"Come on" I pulled at Carter's hand and dragged him upstairs with me.

Well more like he dragged me since he was taller than me and his one stride meant three of my strides.
