*Do you believe that anyone can change? That no matter what they've done, they can be a good person?*

Frisk shook at the name. She held the stick in her hand, but had a compelling feeling to use the knife. Gripping it felt great, didn't it, Frisk? She heard Chara say. She shook her head, "get out of my head.." She said as she dodged the fireballs sent by Toriel. She brushed off the words that Toriel spoke as she dodged.
Oh c'mon, I know you loved it. She heard, but snarled her lip and growled like a dog. "I said get out of my head." She mumbled. Toriel had tears in her eyes. Frisk could tell she was nearing the end of her little speech.
I can't, Frisk. Don't you think I've tried? She heard the chilling laughter and screamed, "GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!" Frisk had tears in her eyes as she threw herself into the path of the fireballs. The pain seemed to make Chara recede in her power over Frisk's thoughts.
Toriel was shocked, but sill sent more. "D-don't you want that...? To have a nice life..? Here, in the ruins..?"
Frisk sobbed, falling onto her knees and curling in a ball, tears falling off her nose and into soft soil beneath them. "I'm so sorry.." She's whisper over and over. Seeing this, Toriel walked over, comforting her.
"Forgive me, my child.." She said as she hugged her. "I love you.. But when you leave the ruins.. Do not return."
Frisk nodded, sitting up on her knees and hugging Toriel back. "I'm sorry..."
...
After a while, Frisk exited the ruins. With a loud BANG! the doors of the ruins closed and locked. She let out a big sigh, knowing she could not turn back. But that was not the only reason she sighed... What comes next... She thought, is going to be the hardest part of my journey.
Walking along the snowed ground, she shivered and held her arms to her chest. Hearing another pair of feet crunching in the snow, she turned around and saw for a flash of a second, the silhouette of something. Oh god... She thought, tensing up.
Continuing, she saw in the distance the wooden bridge. She shuddered at the thought of Sans. How he remembered everything from past timelines. She was stopped by the loud sound of feet crunching in the snow. "H U M A N." A shiver was sent down Frisk's spine. "Don't you know how to greet a new friend? Turn around and-" but he was cut off by Frisk.
".. Shake my hand..." She said, turning around, her eyes watering and a trembling hand stretched out. The skeleton was hesitant at first but shook the hand. "Your sans... Sans the Skeleton..." Frisk gave a weary smile. "You know me already but... I am Frisk..."
He already had recognized the clothing and hair, but now the voice. "You..." He whispered, but his smile stayed plastered on his face. "Do you believe that anyone can change? That no matter what they've done, they can be a good person?"
Hearing those words again, Frisk shook with fear as the whoopee cushion blurted out. Laughing, Sans smiled with his eyes. "Never gets old, huh?" He teased.
Frisk only shivered. She could say nothing. She could do nothing. After a moment of waiting, frisk gave a small nod.
Sans elbowed her as they walked. "You seem off this run. Something brothering you?" He joked in an awful manor.
Knowing what Chara would do, she shook her head. "N-no.." She said, shaking slightly.
Sans sighed, looking down. "I know it wasn't you, kid." He'd comment.
Frisk shuddered again and couldn't bear being around sans anymore. Tears welled in her eyes and she took off running. She could sense the hatred in Sans' voice. It displayed in his jokes, his words, his face and posture. She knew they would never be the same.. None of this was going to be the same.
Holding her stomach, she ran as fast as she could. Many gasped and "ooh"ed as she ran past. She had one destination in mind, and no monster could get in her way. She saw Papyrus and shoved him out of the way and he let out a confused "Nyeh..?"
Frisk ran as tears flew behind her, and as she reached a certain area in the frozen land under the world she knew, she caught her breath and took a sharp right. She ran and ran until she reached a corner, and when she reached it, she sat, pulling her knees close and putting her head between them.
Oh god sans... I'm so sorry... She thought. As she wept, she flinched as the sudden skeletal hand that was placed on her shoulder. Looking up with cloudy eyes, she saw sans towering above her.
"Look kid.." He started, but all she could see was him grinning with a hideous grin as his jacket ruffled in the wind - the only thing she thought of was their fight... The fight... She held her knees closer, her stomach aching with regret. "I don't wanna hurt you. And I didn't. I hope you know that."
Frisk dug her head into her knees. Ignoring sans, she was taken back to reality with a thump. "Hey, quit that."
"... quit what.." She mumbled.
"Quit your bellyachin'," he sat down beside her. It's a perfect opportunity, she heard something in the back of her mind say. He's caught off guard, he's being your "friend". Do it.
Frisk reached inside her pocket and felt the knife Chara had given her somehow. It was cold, and made her hand shake to the touch. She sunk lower, grabbing the knife and pulling it out.
Sans, seeing every subtle movement, got up. "What's that, kiddo?" He asked, knowing exactly what it was.
Frisk's eyes bubbled more with tears. "...a second chance..." She said, taking the knife and aiming it to her chest, ready to sink the knife into her own heart. Shaking, her bangs hid her eyes.
Sans' grin faltered as he used his magic to throw the knife off the cliff. "Don't do that." He said.
Frisk's arms fell limp and she leaned on her knees. Sans sat next to her once more, leaning her on him. "Don't ever do that."
Frisk blinked. She couldn't hurt anyone... They wouldn't know her if she just died now...
Sans smiled slightly and leaned his head on the kid's. "Don't you worry... I'll protect you."
Frisk shook her head. I don't want you to, sans... She thought. I want to protect you! She stood, giving a hint of a smile to sans, silently thanking him, and she walked back into Snowdin.
