Hermione was one of the few ones who return to Hogwarts after the war to draw her education to a close, unlike many such as Harry or Ron who decided to take up a job right after. Along with Hermione, Draco also returned, for whatever reason no one knows.

There were, in total, 26 students who came back to finish their seventh year. Since their classes were so small, they all attend the same classes together.

In every class, Hermione and Draco were paired up together, the teachers pairing the students according to their intellectual, despite their burning hatred toward one another. They were both the smartest of their year, therefore making them Head Boy and Head Girl, together. They practically did everything together.

Through their hatred, they never accomplished anything, refusing to communicate with each other, causing more and more trouble.

One disastrous day in Defense Against The Dark Arts, Professor Dunbar paired up everyone to duel each other. Naturally, Hermione and Draco were paired up, which was perfect seeing that they both wanted to get at one another. Once Professor Dunbar signalled, Hermione and Draco almost practically blew the room apart, causing many others to be injured as well as themselves. This called for a month's detention with Professor Dunbar, together, and a week in the Hospital Wing, together.

Only then, did they decided used to call a truce. Shortly thereafter, their grades improved immensely, detentions became fun and, even though they both refused to admit it, a friendship was formed. They soon became inseparable, either bickering or laughing together all the time, reminding the Hogwarts staff very much of Lily and James Potter.

But all good things must come to an end.

Near the end of the year, Ron came to Hogwarts to visit. During breakfast, he proposed, Hermione accepted gladly, and Draco's and Hermione's friendship began to diminish. Ron didn't particularly like their friendship but Hermione continued in it anyway, which caused many fights and bitter tears.

Eventually Draco did what he though was best, he started to fade from her life until they had lost complete contact with one another. He never forgot his decision to do so, yet regretted it everyday.

But one night changed everything they knew about one another.

It was the night of the Christmas Ball, Harry and Ron had planned to take the day off of work and come to the castle to dance with their girlfriends.

It was the last dance for the seventh years, so Hermione wanted to make it a rememberal one. Little did she know that Draco planned to do the same.

Hermione and Ginny got ready hours before the ball. By the time they were done, it was nightfall. They both giggled and whispered to each other on the way to the Great Hall where the ball was held. Once she walked into the magnificent hall, everyone gaped at her.

She had a beautiful flowing turquoise dress with a strapless top. Her normal bushy hair had transformed into soft bouncy curls falling down her back. She, herself, seemed to give off this special glow, causing many others to look at her with jealousy in their eyes.

Draco had been one of the first to notice her. He gasped, unable to breathe, taking in every little detail about her from her sparkly barrette in her hair to her pointed high heels. She was absolutely gorgeous. He couldn't get his eyes off of her. His greedy eyes followed her as she made her way across the ball room. Eventually, he left his date (Daphne Greengrass) and went to join her.

She and Ginny walked over to Harry, not knowing where Ron was. Ginny tapped on his shoulder and as he turned around she kissed him. Hermione knew they were going to get married some day, she just knew it. Harry gasped at Hermione. "Wow, you just look.... wow." "Thanks," she blushed. "Where's Ron?"
