Hermione’s POV
The Saturday morning rays of sunlight poured into the busy kitchen full of tiny elves preparing breakfast. The warm smell of food wafted from the pans next to me, causing my mouth to water very intensely. Settling into a wooden bar stool, I asked for a cup of coffee from a larger elf with giant green eyes. “Yes m’,” it replied before he scurried off.
I lay my head on the counter just listening to the sounds the elves made. It comforted me just a bit, listening to someone else work instead of yourself. My eyes dropped but shot open at once as there was a tap on my lower back. Looking around, no one was behind me, not even an elf.
I heard a little giggle across the room. Smiling, I tip toed to the spot I heard the giggle. I snatched the table cloth hanging over side the table to find it empty under there. Frowning a little, I stood up and looked around closely. Another giggle was heard now to my right. Smirking I thought, “Oh, so you wanna play this game, do you Scorpius?”
I crawled on the floor to a cabinet holding the laughing child, so I thought. Upon reaching it, I put my ear to the door. A quick breath came from inside. I wrenched open the door with an, “Ah ha!” but only to be surprised again. The same elf that went to get my coffee was huddling in the corner, staring at me wide eyed. Now a full on laugh was heard from behind me. I stood up and looked at a hunched over Scorpius who was laughing like a little hyena.
Running up to him, I grabbed his sides and swung him around which caught him off guard, emitting a scream even louder than before. Faster and faster we spun until I felt someone behind me. I stopped and put Scorpius down, who ran away screaming in delight, with my back to the “stranger”.
Strong hands snaked around my waist which pulled me into his body. Warm breath poured onto my neck making my eyes flutter. “Morning beautiful,” Draco whispered. His lips found mine and stayed like that for a few precious seconds. A little exclamation of, “Ewww!” burst from Scorpius who was pointing at our touching lips. We both pulled apart and laughed at the exasperated Scorpious. “Morning handsome,” I answered with a wink.
We settled down at the breakfast table and began to dine. I thought that was the perfect opportunity to tell Draco and Scorpius about our little surprise visit today.
“Hey Scorpius, I found a little playmate for you! Would you like to play with him today?”
Scorpius’ egg covered face nodded enthusiastically. I tried careful not to make eye contact with Draco. “Do you want to know his name?”
He nodded again.
“His name is Teddy Lupin. He’s kind of like your cousin!” He jumped up and down in his chair, very excited.
Finally, I looked over at Malfoy to see what he had to say about the situation. When my eyes met his, his face lit up. “That is a wonder idea Mione! Scorpius does need to make new friends! Especially when he goes to Hogwarts.” He winked at his son.
A little surprised at his willingness, I smiled and continued my breakfast.
After we had finished I told Scorpius to go get dressed so we could meet his surprise playmate. He galloped upstairs with a little assistant elf following closely behind. Sighing loudly, I shifted my weight to my right foot waiting patiently for the little blonde.
