the song I recommend for this chapter: Not Today by Imagine Dragons

I groan, stretching my arms, my eyes still closed. I let my arms fall and my eyes shoot open as I notice the other side of the bed is empty. I sit up and push my hair back, looking around the room. I peer over the bed and see Violet's bag is gone. I look to my bedside table and see a ripped piece of paper lying there.

'you were sleeping and I didn't wanna wake you,

I have to be somewhere but I'll text you later.

V x'

I sigh, getting up and walking out of my room, towards the shower.

I check the time, '4:56 p.m' and stare at my phone, awaiting for some sort of contact from Violet. Twenty minutes pass and I deliberate whether I should just call her, is she freaked out by last night? Does she regret it? I am knocked from my thoughts by my message tone.

Violet: you busy?

I type back at the speed of light:

Simon: nah, not really

Violet: I missed my damn train and by the time the next train comes, I'll be late, think you could come pick me up?

Simon: yeah, text me what station

I don't ask where she's going as I grab my car keys and jog down the stairs, trying to get to her as fast as possible.

I drive slowly down the street, looking out for Violet. I spot her, looking cold and nervous. She see's me as I pull up next to her and she quickly walks around the car and gets in.

"Hey." She smiles, putting her seat-belt in.

"You alright?" I ask, pulling away from the curb and back on to the main road.

"Yeah, I just need a favour." She exhales, biting her lip.

"And what would that be?" I chuckle, changing gear as I pick up speed.

"I need you to take me to a job thingy." She mumbles.

"A what?" I ask, keeping my eyes on the road.

"A job interview, it's for this illustrator job." She avoids looking at me and instead turns to look out of the window.

"How come you didn't tell me?" I question, still driving.

"I never thought about it and-take a left here." She nods to the upcoming turn and I nod back, signalling to turn as the lights go red.

"That why you rushed away this morning?" I ask.

"Yeah, sorry 'bout that, I just needed to get ready and I don't know, sort my head out." She answers.

"You'll do great, you're amazing." I smile, placing my hand on her thigh and I feel it shaking slightly.

"I'm so scared." She whispers.

"It's gonna be fine, you will do amazing, just be yourself." I tell her, gripping her thigh a bit more tighter to reassure her.

"It's just up here, take a right then go straight down the road." She directs me.

I take her directions and we end up outside of a very old building, with the name of the company on the front. She sighs and looks at me.

"Don't make a big deal out of this okay?" She asks, I go to ask her what she means but she leans forward and kisses me.

I place my hand on the back of her neck and pull her in closer, the feeling of her intoxicating.
