song I recommend for this chapter: Breathe (2 AM) by Ana Nalick
Violet and I don't tell the boys for about a month. We wanted to make sure it was right before we had people like JJ knowing.
I see her most days, if not every two or three days, seen as she's started her job. She loves it, I've never seen her so excited. It's currently the eighth of March and I haven't seen Violet in three days. She's messaged me, but barely.
"Where you off to?" Vikk asks, as I grab my car keys and go to open the front door.
"Gonna go see Vi." I tell him, he nods and I walk to my car.
I knock on her door, I wait about ten seconds before it's opened. She stands in front of me in a long t-shirt and a pair of shorts, which are basically hidden by her shirt. She looks like she's been crying as she tiredly wipes under her glasses at her bloodshot eyes.
"Vi?" I say, stepping forward and slowly closing the door behind me.
"Hey." She mumbles, attempting a smile but I can tell it's forced.
"C'mon." I take her hand gently and lead her to her bedroom.
The blinds are closed and only a small slither of light makes it's way in to her room. I take my shoes off quickly before resting my back against her headboard and allowing her to sink in to my side, her head resting on my chest.
"You gonna tell me what's up?" I softly ask her, my fingers playing with the sleeve of her t-shirt.
"I got a letter from my mum today." She sighs, sniffling slightly.
"And?" I question, our voices echoing around the quiet room.
"She's moving to Scotland with her fiance and she's selling the house." Violet's voice is shaky and hitches every so often.
"How longs it been since you've been back?" I ask her, she sinks further in to my body as she replies.
"I haven't been in the house since Charlie died, like three, four years."
"Do you not want to say goodbye to it?" I whisper.
"It's a house Simon." She chuckles, but I still hear the sadness in her voice.
"But it was your house." I remind her.
"It's like an hour and a half away." She says.
"I can drive you." I reply, placing my lips to her forehead.
"She wants me to come get some of Charlie's stuff." Violet sits up, wiping her eyes before standing up.
"Whatever you wanna do, I've got you." I say, standing up and placing my arms around her waist.
"Don't you have to film today? I can get the train." Violet mumbles in to my shirt as she wraps her arms around my torso.
"I have all day to film, we're going." I tell her.
"Okay, let me get changed." She smiles at me, pecking my cheek before going to her wardrobe.
I sit on her bed and wait as she changes in her bathroom. She comes back out, in a pair of black, skinny jeans and a black Sidemen shirt (which I gave her). She slips her black Converse on and I follow her out.
The drive is quiet and I can see she's thinking as we near the destination.
"I never knew you were from Farnham." I say, making conversation as rain begins to fall.
