song I recommend for this chapter: Wasn't Expecting That by Jamie Lawson
I walk to work, spring starting to set in as I make my way down the busy London street. I hold a cup of black coffee in my hand as I enter the building and make my way to my desk.
"Morning." Maria smiles at me, she works next door to my office and always smiles at me.
"Hey." I wave slightly, walking in to my office and closing the door.
I place my coffee on my desk and sigh as I collapse on to my chair, my body feeling tired. My phone buzzes from my bag and I take it out, Simon's name on the front.
"Hey." I smile, turning around in my chair so I'm looking out on to the streets.
"Well, you seem in a happy mood." He chuckles.
"Yeah, just got to work, but I got coffee." I answer, absentmindedly watching people outside.
"Oh, you busy? I can call back." He offers.
"Nah, I just got here, I technically don't start for three minutes." I giggle, making him laugh.
"So I have three minutes to talk to you?"
"I mean, it's under three minutes now, you're wasting time." I laugh.
"Alright, alright, I want you to come 'round tonight." He chuckles, his voice happy.
"And why would you want that?" I ask suspiciously.
"Because...you're my girlfriend?" He asks, as if he's not sure.
"Great reasoning." I grin.
"Thanks, I try." He replies.
"Right, I'll be over after work, I've gotta go, talk later, yeah?" I say, as my supervisor begins to walk down the corridor.
"Yeah, bye." He answers before hanging up.
I spend my work day sketching some drawings for a children's book, despite my interest being more on comic books and graphic novels than a child's book. I end up actually leaving work an hour later, I don't notice as the time passes and I'm almost finished my sketches by the time I leave.
I slip my coat on and walk out of the building, most people have left by now so it's pretty quiet as I leave. I get the bus to Simon's and walk for about ten minutes before reaching the door.
I knock twice and sigh, waiting for someone to open it. I wait about twenty seconds before Josh opens the door.
"Hey, Violet." He smiles, opening the door wider so I can come in.
"Hey, how's it going?" I ask, smiling back.
"Good, yeah, Simon's upstairs." Josh nods to the stairs.
"Ah, thanks." I chuckle, before walking up to Simon's room.
I knock on Simon's door and hear a muffled 'come in' from the other side of the door. I walk in to find Simon sitting on his bed, cross-legged, his laptop in front of him.
"Hey, Vi." He grins to me, moving over so I can sit next to him.
"Hey." I walk to him, taking my coat off and draping it over my bag which I place on the floor.
I sit next to Simon on the bed, our knees touching and lay my head on his shoulder.
"How was work?" He asks.
I close my eyes and reply, "tiring."
He chuckles at my response.
"What did you want then?" I ask, knowing he wants something.
