My gosh, she's gorgeous.
This sounds messed up, but today during class I found myself wishing I had cancer so I could use my Make a Wish to meet Sara.
Yeah, don't judge."Let's start out easy," he said once they were comfortably seated. Arizona tensed, remembering when Penny had said that as they beat answers out of her. "How are you feeling today?"
Arizona stared at him. She remembered Mark telling her that no one would hurt her if she said how she felt. "Nervous," she finally said. "Terrified."
"Why is that?"
She couldn't tell what this guy wanted. "Because, I don't know what is going to happen."
Callie squeezed her hand.
"Isn't that life?"
"I'm scared to death of that now," Arizona said slowly. "I-Callie almost killed us today."
"Really?" his gaze slid to Callie, who blushed scarlet in embarrassment.
"I almost ran a red light," Callie admitted.
"Let's try to keep our patient alive, Dr. Torres," Dr. Evans admonished. "But Arizona, why are you scared?"
"Because I don't know what will happen, I just said that. Didn't I?" she looked at Callie, who nodded. "I never thought that...who thinks that will happen?"
He nodded. "Life is unpredictable."
Arizona sat there, staring at Callie's hand holding her own.
"Umm," Callie jumped in. "Arizona was able to talk about her abduction a little more, weren't you?"
Zona nodded.
"Does talking about it make you feel better?" Dr. Evans asked.
Arizona mumbled, "I don't know. I guess."
"Did you feel better after you told Callie some things?"
"Sort of." Arizona shrugged.
"How do you mean?"
"It was just replaced by different feelings."
"What were the feelings the first time, before you told Callie?"
Arizona looked up. "Fear, and pain."
"Okay."
Slowly, Arizona continued. "Terror. Embarrassment. Shame." Each admission was punctuated by silence.
Each word she said was a stab to Callie's heart, and she could feel her grip around Arizona's hand getting tighter, wishing Arizona would just trust her."That's a lot."
Arizona shrugged again, looking away.
"And after you told Calliope?"
"Guilt," Arizona said. "Grief. Shame. Pain. Fear." She looked at Callie. Holding her gaze she said softly. "Fear is always there. It never goes away."
"What are you afraid of?"
"Everything?"
"Sounds like we have a lot to talk about then." Dr. Evans looked at Callie. "Do you think it would be okay for Calliope to leave us for a short while?"
"You'll come back?" Arizona asked her.
"As soon as Dr. Sayles pages me," Callie reassured her.
"Okay," Arizona said, very unsure. "Okay."
Callie kissed her hand and walked out of the room.
