Okay, storytime.
The next morning, Callie mentally prepared herself. They had to go to the hospital and it was raining.
She did not want another sidewalk episode. But Arizona was scared to death of cars, SUVs in particular, one of which Callie drove. She watched the Blonde get ready while she drank her coffee. Arizona had kept her up all night last night, and yet had somehow managed to get up and make coffee and breakfast without Callie noticing. But Callie didn't blame her for keeping her up. She couldn't control her nightmares. And she had coffee. Coffee would be her salvation these next few weeks. "I'm ready."
Arizona's admission snapped Callie out of her tired reverie. "Okay," Calliope said.
"We're driving right?"
"Yes, it's raining."
"Okay. I'll-it'll be okay."
Callie frowned quickly and turned back to the kitchen. Arizona followed her and sat her own empty mug in the sink beside Callie's. Then she went to open the dishwasher. A hand on her arm stopped her. "But I need to-"
"No Ari," Callie said. "It'll be okay. They can sit in the sink for a few hours while we're out."
"But-"
"Arizona," Callie said firmly. "It's okay." She pulled gently on Zona's arm and led her to the door. Staring at the sink, Arizona allowed herself to be led away. Callie handed her the keys. "Lock the door?"
She walked through and pulled Arizona after her. Zona stared at the keys in her hand and then glanced at the open door. She reached out and pulled it shut. Then she slid the key inside the lock, and turned it until it clicked. A rush flew through her. She stared at the door curiously. "That felt good."
"Locking the door?" Callie asked.
Arizona looked at her, "Holding the key.
