They hadn't slept much that night.
That ghost of a kiss had broken the ice and they had sat up talking in the dark until the early rays of sunlight crept through the blinds.
Callie walked to the window and peeked out. Everything was quiet. She looked back at Arizona, barely visible in the sea of sheets. She smiled and opened the blinds, making Arizona yelp in surprise. They laughed.
"I'm so used to them being shut," Arizona said. "With the sisters..."
"I like showing my sexy girl off," Callie grinned, slipping back into bed.
Arizona stared at the windows. "It makes me nervous. After what happened. It's going to make me nervous."
Callie didn't know if she was talking about the windows being uncovered or something else, so she remained silent.
Arizona looked at her and saw the exhaustion on her face. Dark circles haunted her tired eyes. She turned to face the curvy Latina. She lays her hands on either side of her tan olive skin. She looks into Calliope's dark eyes. "Calliope, when was the last time you slept?"
"Don't worry about me, Arizona," Callie said.
Arizona frowned. "My nightmares keep you awake."
"Callie," Arizona started. "I don't mind."
After a few moments of silence, she reached over to the night stand and picked up the lotion Mark had prescribed for Arizona's back. Showing Arizona, she had her turn and lift the back of her shirt. She gently massaged the lotion into Arizona's scared back. "You're beautiful.""What?" Arizona laughed.
"You're just so beautiful."
"Don't lie to me, Calliope."
Callie kissed the back of Arizona's neck, sending shivers down the Blonde's spine. The good kind.
"I'm not lying." Calliope whispers, kissing the back of her shoulder blade.
