ETHAN'S POV:

I was shocked. I guess she wasn't used to compliments.

"Do you want a tish?" I asked as I rummaged through my jean pockets.

"A tish?" She smiled at me while a tear rolled down her cheek.

"Yeah, a tissue." I smirked.

"Oh yeah, thanks." She said as I gave her a tish that I pulled out from my pocket. "Do you think we lost them?" She sniffed.

"I guess for now." I shrugged. We both exchanged nervous glances. "Come on." I started the car engine. "Let's get you to Philly."

-----------------------------------------------------------------

"Wait wait wait, Ethan you what? No way!" Cassie hysterically laughed, hiding her face in her hands.

"I know I know. I blamed Grayson for it afterwards." I laughed, keeping my eye on the road as we shared random stories with each other.

"That's so bad, oh my gosh." She shook her head, trying to contain her laughter.

"We've got 10 minutes left until we get there by the way." I nodded and looked over at Cassie. Her face dropped. "What's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing, it's just that I haven't had company like this in a while." She shrugged.

I sighed, remembering that once I drop her off, I'm probably never going to see her again. For some reason that thought sent shivers up my spine. Talking to her was so easy, I don't know why I felt so attached to her in such a short amount of time.

"After all this is over, I might see you around New Jersey right?" I asked, hoping for a yes.

"No. I'll have to go back to my foster home in Montana." Her eyes wondered out of the window.

"Oh." I bit my lip. "Do you like it there?" I tried to hide my dismay.

"It's okay I guess, I live with like 9 other teenagers." She shrugged.

"Must get loud." I nodded.

The rest of the journey was quiet, for some reason it was like we were both sad. Once we reached Philadelphia, I pulled over by a car park that was around the back of some shops.

"So, I guess this is the end of our adventure." I chuckled and Cassie smiled at me.

"Thanks for taking me this far." Cassie nodded, she took her hood down causing me to stare at her, taking in her features one last time.

"No problem. It's been fun." I nodded.

Suddenly she leaned over towards me and embraced me into a hug. She squeezed me tightly. I slowly wrapped my arms around her, my heart began to beat faster due to the contact. I could feel her chin resting on my shoulder.

"Bye Ethan." She unitentionally whispered, causing my hairs on the back of my neck to stand up.

She pulled away from the hug, it left me feeling empty, she got out of the car and shut the door. I watched her as she slung her backpack over her shoulder and put her hood back up.

She was alone again. All on her own in a big city that she's never been to before.

"Dammit." I hit my fist on the steering wheel and got out of my car, shutting the door after me. "Cassie!" I called after her as she turned around.

"What are you doing?" She stood there, waiting for me to reach her.

"I uh, didn't say goodbye." I scratched the back of my head.

"Ethan you're such a goof you know that." She laughed and shook her head, her laugh making me smile automatically.

She began to walk away, my eyes widened, I couldn't let her just leave.

"Wait." I quickly said so she couldn't get so far. She stopped and turned around again.

"I need to go Ethan, I need a headstart remember." She raised her eyebrows.

"I know. It's just that, you make me feel things when I'm with you and I like those feelings. But I feel that if you're not there, it will suck, really bad. I know this sounds stupid and super immature but I'm just, not ready to... let you walk away from me yet." I blurted out, Cassie was smiling at the ground. "Yeah I didn't really think this through." I let out a deep sigh.

"So what are you saying?" She looked up at me. Her ice blue eyes searching my hazel ones.

"Would you like to get back in my car?" I smirked stupidly.

"I would love to get back in your car." She smiled. "But." She squeezed her eyes shut.

"But?" I sighed.

"You have a family that loves you Ethan, and a twin brother. You can't just disppear to Toronto with a girl you met on the streets and expect them to just go with it." She shook her head.

I was only partly listening to what Cassie was saying because I noticed a few men that were dotted around behind her, at first I thought they were normal people shopping but then once they spotted us, their eyes were focused only on us. I could see them about to surround us as they closed in.

"Cass get in the car." My eyes darted around, trying to mark where they all were.

"What? Ethan you can't leave everyon-"

"Quick!" I snapped.

She finally caught on, her eyes widened and she began to sprint towards the car with me following her.

"They're making a run for it! Hurry!" One of the men shouted orders to the others.

I pressed the pedal and we sped off, luckily I was a pretty good driver so we swerved through the car park to the other exit. I took the turn towards the shops hoping to lose them. It was a mistake. The traffic was horrendous.

"They're going to catch us up!" Cassie said beginning to panic as she looked out the back window.

I looked into the busy crowd of people walking through the street of shops. I guess it was the town centre. Everyone was so tightly packed together, you couldn't make out anyone's faces.

"We need to get out of the car." I opened my door.

"What?" Cassie stared at me in surprise.

"They won't be able to find us in that." I said pointing towards the crowds.

Cassie followed my last minute plan and jumped out of the car, we ran into the tightly packed people. I could feel Cassie holding on to the bottom of my t-shirt, trying not to lose me. I pushed people out of the way so me and Cassie could get through. I saw an opening in the people and went through.

I looked behind me to check if the men were following us. However, I noticed that Cassie wasn't behind me anymore. She wasn't holding onto my top anymore. I didn't even realise.

"Cassie?!" I shouted over the noise of people, barely audible.

My eyes darted around to see if I could find her, but all I could see was average everyday people on a shopping trip.

Uh oh Ethan. You done goofed, you lost her on the first day, dammit E-tee-wee-tee. We can't take you anywhere. You're grounded you little coconut.

PEACE!✌
