ETHAN'S POV:
As soon as I closed the door, I ran to the elevator, smashing the button a few times once I got there. The wait for the doors to open was agonising, as soon as they did I jumped straight in and pressed to go to the top floor. Cassie would stay on the 6th floor.
My plan when the elevator reached the top was to run. Run and don't stop for anything. Run until you're back in that storage room, with your girlfriend.
Once the doors opened, I immediately sprinted out before they could open properly. My shoes squeaking as my feet slid across the floor. I was too desperate to get out of breath. I needed this antidote.
Surprisingly, I saw no military. No men dressed in black with murderous guns. They were probably searching the other floors. I only hoped it wasn't the 6th.
Soon I came face to face with the doors of the lab, I swung them open and entered. It was massive on the inside, so many unknown machines that looked just as deadly as they did complicated. All my eyes searched for was desks.
I paced around the machines until I found a door that led into a seperate room, inside that room, I saw a desk. My heart skipped a beat at the new found hope. I threw the door open and hurried to the desk. The draw was locked as I pulled on it, I tried to yank it open frantically but it wasn't working.
I searched the desk top for something to use. Thankfully, I spotted a pair of scissors. I grabbed them and stuck them into the top of the draw, using it as a lever. I tensed my muscles and locked my jaw as I used my strength to break it open. Soon I heard a cracking noise and the draw opened.
Immediately I threw the scissors back on to the desk as I saw the needle and syringe with the antidote in it, the needle had a needle cap on it. The whole thing was in a plastic see-through bag.
The sticker on the plastic bag said 'Cassandra Jackson antidote - inject into upper arm'
I stuffed it into the back pocket of my skinny jeans and ran out. As I exited the little room and went back into the lab, I saw some military men stood face to face with Jay and some of his men.
"This is a military case. You need to leave." Once of the military men said sternly.
"I'm afraid that won't be happening." One of the men dressed in black crossed his arms. Jay's eyes shot towards me.
"The boy! There he is!" Jay shouted and pointed as everyone's eyes landed on me.
"Shit." I cursed to myself and ran, snaking through the machines.
I heard gun shots of the men dressed in black, I ducked, hoping none of the bullets would hit me.
"Don't shoot! He's a minor!" I heard the military shout.
I managed to make it out of the lab. How? I don't know. All I needed to do now was to get back to Cassie.
I scrambled back to the elevator and pressed the button, looking behind me to make sure none of them were there. The doors opened and I jumped in and pressed the number 6. I could still hear faint gun shots but they soon stopped.
I hopped out of the elevator and into the storage room, craving for Cassie. I saw purple blood trails leading to the room she was in from where I had carried her earlier. I had the antidote, she was going to be so happy. I swiftly opened the door to the little room she was in.
"I made it, I have it. I have the antidote." I sighed. I took it out of my pocket to show her.
I looked up from the syringe, I looked up to see her eyes closed. Her expression blank.
"Cassie..." I breathed out. She didn't answer, she didn't move. "Cassandra!" I raised my voice. She didn't flinch.
I fell to my knees next to her, no longer feeling my heartbeat in my chest. I fumbled with the syringe and took the needle cap off. I injected the antidote into her arm and then threw the empty syringe away.
I leaned into her face, trying to hear her breathing. Nothing. I put my hand on her heart. Nothing.
"No no no no! Cassie please! Please wake up! I need you." I lost it, tears fell like a waterfall from my eyes.
I grabbed her hand, hoping she would grasp me. When our skin touched, I no longer felt the tingle that I had always felt. My hands were shaking.
I lifted my hoodie that was drenched in her blood to reveal her wound. Her blood. Her blood was red. She was normal. The red blood dripped down her waist.
"Cass, look. Your blood is red. We did it." I held her face. "Open your eyes." I pleaded.
I was waiting. Waiting for her gorgeous blue eyes to open. Waiting for her pure heart to start beating. Waiting for her soft hand to grab mine.
"You promised, you promised you wouldn't leave me. I can't fucking do this without you." I spoke to her. "We were meant to be together, I was meant to take you to the fair. We were going to be actors together. What about growing old. Old and wrinkly, even though you would still be beautiful to me." I weeped, not caring how weak I looked.
I cupped her face, her skin was cold. She seemed porcelain. Feeling her dying skin made me cry out in pain and sadness.
"You can't leave me, you can't!" I cried loudly, my forehead against hers. "I love you, I love you I love you." I repeated hopelessly, wanting her to answer me.
The door of the room burst open, I didn't bother to look around to see who it was. What else did I have to lose?
"She's normal now okay! Look, red fucking blood!" I shouted at them, pointing to her wound.
"The police are almost here." I heard the voice of the military man tell me.
"I don't care! She's gone! I loved her and she's gone!" I screamed louder than ever, my voice breaking. The men were silent for a few seconds.
"Get some stray blood." One man said to the others. They scooped purple blood from the floor using vials. "Sorry kid." A man said. Fucker.
I continued to hold Cassie in my arms, her body getting colder and colder. I automatically rubbed her arms to warm her up like I always do, forgetting that it wouldn't work this time.
As they scavenged for blood, I stared at my absolutely perfect girlfriend. The girl that had stolen my heart in the most peculiar adventure. The girl who's singing voice sounded like an angel. The girl who made me forget what life was like before I met her. The beautiful girl that was now dead in my arms.
"I promise that I'll love you until I die Cassandra." I kissed her forehead, my tears rolling on to her face.
Suddenly, police and medics filtered into the room. So much noise around me that I didn't pay attention to. The only time I noticed was when I felt hands of a policeman pulling me away from Cassie.
"No! Don't touch me! Leave me alone! I need to stay with her!" I struggled in his arms.
Medics surrounded her, checking her pulse and shaking their head sadly. My vision was blurry due to tears.
"You can't take me away from her! I can't leave her! I love her!" I shouted desperately. No one seemed to care nor understand what I felt for her.
"She's gone. I'm sorry but you can't be on the crime scene, we've come to take you home. New Jersey right? Your family have been extremely worried." The policeman dragged me away.
I didn't listen to anything he said, my eyes were focused on Cassie and her peaceful face. The medics covered her with a blanket as my breathing turned into shock. The policeman shut the door of the room and dragged me to the elevator.
I closed my eyes and saw Cassie for the last time from my memory. Her ice blue eyes sparkling as she smiled at me, her smile full of love.
I would never forget her. I would always be by her side. I would never leave her. Just like I promised...
The End.
There will be an epilogue, I promise.
PEACE!✌
