ETHAN'S POV:

I didn't really sleep much that night. Sleeping on the grass was not at all like sleeping in a bed. Obviously. It wasn't cold, it was just uncomfortable. Maybe I didn't sleep because I was too paranoid. Too scared that people would come and take Cassie away from me while I was sleeping. I wouldn't be able to protect her if I'm in dreamland.

My chest was her pillow and my arms were her blanket. I was determined to keep her safe.

When she finally woke up as the sun began to rise, I kissed her forehead gently, making her smile.

"I love waking up to you." She chuckled.

"Good." I smiled. "Want to get breakfast?" I asked her.

"Yes, we need to be quick though." Cassie sat up at the mention of food. (Literally me).

I looked down the trail to see the red pickup truck still parked there. The one we stole. I still felt guilty about that, I wonder how the man and his dog got home.

We walked down to the stolen truck and got in, it was quite cold inside so we rubbed our arms a bit to warm up.

"Did you see any places to eat on the way?" I asked Cassie as I started the vehicle.

"Well, I was too busy focusing on getting away from the owner of this truck to pay attention." Cassie smirked.

"You really need to learn to multitask." I joked as we drove back to the main road.

There wasn't many stores or houses on this road. It was pretty deserted. I wouldn't be surprised if tumbleweed rolled by. Finally, we came across a small diner.

"There." Cassie pointed. I pulled into the minature car park.

"I hope they have pancakes." I licked my lips, my stomach rumbling.

"I feel like waffles." Cassie grinned.

We sat down and ordered our breakfast. I noticed that Cassie was constantly looking around her, expecting danger. I reached over the table and held her hand, she flinched at my contact but soon relaxed once she knew it was me.

"Don't worry, they're not here." I whispered soothingly.

"Ethan I hate this. I hate being paranoid all the time." She sighed.

"You won't be in a few hours." I smiled at her.

"I can't wait. I can't wait to spend some proper time with you." She nodded. "I'll beg my foster family to let me go to New Jersey to visit you." She held my hand tightly.

"I want to take you to the Jersey fair, it's amazing, you'll love it." I grinned at the thought of all this happening.

Our breakfast arrived and we devoured it, savouring every last flavour. There was nothing left on our plates once we had finished.

"Wow, that was fucking amazing." Cassie gushed.

"I know." I smirked to myself.

"Wait. Ethan, how are we going to pay for this." She finally realised.

"What?" I pretended I didn't hear.

"You said you don't have any money left." Cassie frowned at me, knowing I was up to something.

"Yeah, I don't." I smiled at her, guilty.

"Ethan..." Cassie raised her eyebrows, knowing where this was going.

"On 3 okay?" I leaned in towards her and whispered.

"Are you serious right now?" Cassie chuckled.

"1..." I whispered.

"3! Run." Cassie jumped up and pulled me along.

We heard shouting from the staff behind us as we sprinted out of the diner. Straight away, we jumped into the truck and I immediatley started the engine. My heart was thudding in my chest, filled with adrenalin as we drove away while some employees were attempting to run after us.

Surprisingly, me and Cassie were laughing. I didn't know if it was nervous laughing, but we were laughing. I was treated by seeing and hearing her happiness.

"Okay, stealing this truck is still the worst thing I've ever done. Technically, that was nothing." I said as our laughter died down.

"Yeah, if you think about it we didn't really do anything wrong. We need to eat to live right?" Cassie shrugged.

"True, we're completely innocent." I nodded.

"Innocent. Completely?" I felt Cassie's gaze on me.

I stopped at the traffic light and caught her stare in mine. Her seductive smirk making my mind go wild.

"Maybe not completely." I breathed out.

I leaned in to kiss her, she leaned in as well. As soon as our lips met, I put my hand on the back of her neck to gently pull her closer to me. I could feel her hand trailing down my chest, along the fabric of my top, making me shiver. I was so distracted that I hardly heard cars beeping behind me.

"Shit." I pulled away and went through the now green light.

"E, you really need to learn how to multitask." She joked, quoting me from earlier.

"I can't help that you're distracting." I chuckled.

"Neither can I." She shrugged as she put her hand on my thigh.

"Hey hey, you know what you're doing." I tried to contain my boner.

"What?" She laughed.

"I'm driving, I'm in charge in this vehicle. No touching." I tried to keep a straight face.

"Fine." She smirked and put her hands in her lap.

After about 5 minutes I gave up.

"Okay screw that rule I just made. Hold my hand." I said as we cruised along a motorway.

"No no, I'm distracting, you carry on driving." She teased me.

"Hand." I held my hand out, and frowned like a little kid.

"No." She laughed.

"Oi, I can stop this truck if I want to." I pretended to be annoyed.

"Did you just 'oi' me?" She fake gasped.

"Yes, and if you don't hold my hand I'll stop the truck." I laughed.

"How many hours left?" Cassie asked.

"3, just 3." I said as I finally enterlocked our fingers.

3 FUCKING HOURS LEFT BOIII, is it gonna be a quick journey? Who knows! Not me, I haven't even wrote the rest yet, lol.

PEACE!✌
