Madeline's POV
_____________I woke up at 8:00. I had a better night's sleep since I wasn't crying the whole night because of that dream. It just keeps haunting me every year after the incident. I got out of bed and started the coffee percolator. However, it broke down in the middle. I pounded my fist on the table. "You okay?" Jason asked. "I'm just frustrated right now." I said. "Things aren't working for me. Wanna go to Dunkin Donuts and get breakfast?" He shrugged. "Ok." He said. "So, you want me to drive us?" I asked. "Or do you wanna run?"
He looked at me. "Why don't we drive?" He said. "We could go for a run tonight. How about that? I wanna see how fast you are in your form." "I bet I could outrun you." I said. "What makes you think that?" He asked. "Dude." I said. "I've been running with my school friends, Kylie and Brian. And they're both vampires." "Are you talking about the boy who accidentally bit you?" "Yup." I said. "Wait, how did you-... Madi?" He nodded. "So, anyways, we actually ran from my house to wherever." I added. "Do you have your license by the way?" he nodded. "Good because I don't wanna drive you if you don't have your license."

Jason's POV
__________"Madeline, I'm 18 in August." I said. She froze in place. 'Please not the same day as the goddamned tiger hybrid.' Madeline thought. "Um, the 10th." I said. She calmed down. "Um, ok." She said. "But, wait. Aren't you graduated?" "I'm an incoming senior." I said. "Oh." She said. "I missed the goddamned cutoff by 24 days." I snickered. "24 days." I murmured. Her head shot in my direction. "Don't think I can't hear you." She said. "Well, I went to school with the ones who missed the cutoff, so seriously?" I said. "I have ears you know." She said. "Literally."
Madeline ran in her room and came back out completely dressed. She took $20 from the counter. "Ready?" She asked as she walked out. "I'll be back, Shilo." The brindle dog whimpered as I shut the door behind me. She wagged her tail and went into the living room. She then walked over to me and locked the door. She took her keys off her belt and walked to the sick car. "Whoa." I said. "What model is this?" "You're not gonna believe it, but it's the 2012 Volvo." She said. "What?" I said. "It looks new." "This was my father's." She said. "All of the mowing the lawn pays off. I still do."
We arrived at the Dunkin Donuts and she parked in the front. It was perfectly parked. "Alright." She said. "Out." I got out as she locked the car, then clipping the key onto her belt. After ordering, we sat close to the pickup table. We sat down in the chairs. "So, how's Penobscot?" Madeline asked. "It's great." I said. "There's Madi, Laura, Brian, and Lilly there, and they're like family to me." "What made you start singing?" She asked. "Well, I usually sing for fun, but my parents tell me I have a good voice." I said. "I usually get embarrassed, but my friends wanted me to get into choir. Madi and I were accepted into the choir in Castine at the age of 13. Madi wanted to start doing districts, but I was too nervous. I tried out and made it, but I was too scared to perform at the festival. The tenors are good. And I mean REALLY good." "You could sing with Kylie, Brian, and me someday." She said. "Wait, are Kylie and Brian... You know." I asked. "No." She said. "We are all just great friends. Those two are more than willing to protect my ass. Brian helped me with that tiger hybrid."
Soon, we got our food. It didn't take long to finish it. Heh. So, anyways, we were back at Madeline's place. Shilo, her dog, was barking because of me. "He's a friend." She said. Shilo immediately ran up to me and sat down in front of me. She then licked my face after I kneeled down. Then, she put her paws on Madeline's shoulders and licked her face. "She can understand you?" I asked. "Yeah." She said. "She said,'if you say so. I have to trust you.' Yea, I know, it's kinda creepy." "That's what makes you you." I said. "Don't change that." Madeline started to blush. She giggled. After a minute, I broke the silence. "Wanna work on the song?" I asked. She nodded.
