They quickly got back to the camp and started healing each other's wounds, as if nothing happened. The only one who wasn't accepting healing was Beth, who, like after every battle, was blaming it silently on herself. No one really knew a lot about Beth, besides of course, her twin brother. She is one of the most silent persons that any of the people in the group had ever met, and that made her a very good listener. She would usually help others with their troubles and fights, only to run away from her own. When she was a kid, everyone would either bully her or be scared of her. The only person who's been friendly with her, and that she now considered as her best friend was Lexandra. At the time, no one knew what her powers were, only that all the teachers considered her very clever and powerfull. She always wore a smile when walking on the hallways and everyone loved her as she was very charismatic. The first time she talked Beth was on a cold winter day, or as others would call it, Christmas. Everyone was inside, dancing, laughing and opening gifts. Everyone besides Beth. She was sitting outside in the cold, beaten up and crying. No one noticed her. She wasn't crying because of the wounds that she got. She was crying because words cut. Monster. Every body said. Crazy. They said. And after a while, after hearing everyone attribute this words to your person, you start to believe it. As she was lost in her thoughts, she didn't hear the door open and only noticed the beautiful girl with dark hair when her eyes met the ground where her bare feet were peacefully laying. Her eyes, that were a reddish shade of brown, were reflecting the cold snow that was covering the academy, making them a new color that Beth didn't know how to describe. She stopped crying, her breath taken by the beauty of her underclassman. As she was contemplating her, she realized that the girl was now looking at her, and felt her cheeks flush. Lexandra was now walking towards her, surprising Beth when she keeled in front of her, making her blue dress touch the snow and wrapped her hands around her knees.
"Aren't you cold?" she asks her, than tilts her head, making her hair flow around her like a river. Beth was so surprised by the question, that she felt in the snow, making Lexandra giggle.
"I am Lex. Do you want some help?" she reaches for Beth's cold hand than helps her up. "Follow me!" she tells the confused girl, without waiting for an answer, than started running towards the dorms, her bare feet leaving footprints in the snow.
"Isn't she freezing?" Beth asked herself, as she followed the frail girl. The black-haired girl was taking quick turns, that turned around the green-haired girl, but didn't stop her from keeping up with Lex. Soon enough, they enter the dorm's building, than quickly close the door so that the cold won't make its way inside. Lexandra's room was on the highest floor, really close to Bethanie's.
"Let's patch you up!" she tells her excited. It was true that back then, Beth was a walking mess. Her long hair was always tangled and dirty, and she always had dark circles under her eyes because of the lack of sleep. She was wearing the same clothes for 2 weeks now, as she didn't got the time to visit the dorms in a long time. Even though she was only 10 years old, the training was really hard and dangerous, making all of the kids grow up a lot sooner than they would normally need to. Lexy was a really happy 8 year old for the situation that they've been put into. But no one seems to care. If anything, she was the one that was always putting them in high spirits. She was now brushing her hair with a lot of care, making her best not to pull her hair too hard.
"Can I cut it?" she asks her new acquaintance, really happy that she was making a new friend.
"Do whatever you want." Beth answered her, not really caring what she looked like. She didn't really care about her underclassmen either. At the time, she considered the black-haired brat that was obvious to all the death that was going on in the academy, and that the teachers liked her because her father was paying for the academy, or something like that. For Beth, she seemed useless. She didn't got any powers and wasn't even training or got any intellectual skill what so ever. That's what she thought about her. She was useless. Everyone in the academy was useless. Soon enough, Lex finished the girls's make over and handed her a mirror.
