4. sheer oblivion

-Luke's Pov-

I don't try to give off a creepy vibe, but somehow, Cara and I always end up in the same place, like in this tree for example. I was just sitting up in my favourite tree, writing music, when I hear her climb up it. Instead of making myself known, I hide so she may go away before she realises I'm here.

I didn't even have to make myself noticed until she almost fell off of the tree, making it time to be known and to save her.

-Cara's Pov-

I sit in a tree, finishing up the drawing of Luke, listening to Nirvana. I go to lean against the tree but my back misses it slightly and my heart leaps as I get pulled back up from almost falling. I look up, eyes wide, at Luke raising a brow at me. I sigh and roll my eyes, pulling away from him and leaning against the tree, starting a new drawing.

I feel his stare burning into the back of my neck. As I pull off my headphones, I turn to him. "Luke, why do you always end up wherever I am?"

He scoffs. "A simple thank you for saving your life would've been appreciated."

I roll my eyes and growl through my teeth. "Well did you want a kiss?"

He chuckles. "Well I mean now that you mention it..." He laughs and shakes his head, seeing my glare. "No I'm kidding."

"Luke, thank you, now go away."

He pouts. "That's rude Cara. Looks like you need to be taught some manners."

I gulp slightly, digging my nails into my palms. "Look, Luke, please leave. I don't want Ashton's feelings to get hurt if he looks up here and sees us together."

He seems to ignore me, chewing on his lip ring, staring at my face. I furrow my brows. "Luke what are you-"

"Shh" he cuts me off, climbing onto the branch I'm sitting on.

I lean back slightly and swallow the lump in my throat cautiously. "W-what're you-"

"God should I have been more direct? Shut up. Please."

I roll my eyes and look down.

"Cara..."

I look up at him.

"I um-"

"You know what Luke, you can go to hell, because you are literally always such a jerk to me. And purposely too." I frown. "Why are you always so rude to me?" I roll my eyes as he starts to talk. "You know what? Save it. Go back to your little girlfriend. I saw how close you two got when I first got here."

Luke furrows his brows. "My girlfriend? You mean Jane?" He makes a face. "I would NEVER date her. She practically glued herself to me and it creeps the hell out of me. Trust me, she's the last person I would be with." He smirks.

I mumble, "who's the first person," then run a hand through my hair and sigh. "Then why are you always so mean to me Luke?"

He chuckles. "Do you never use your hard head, princess?"

My eyes widen and I chew my lip and look down, shaking my head. "Sorry Luke, but I have someone and I don't want to ruin it with him." I sigh. "Sorry." I get up and climb down the tree careful with my sketchbook and headphones and phone. I pull back on my head phones, turning on 5 Seconds Of Summer, going back to my room.

-Luke's Pov-

I have honestly never been more clear in my life, but Cara can't seem to take a hint. Maybe she didn't want to. I mean, what's so great about Ashton compared to me? I sigh gently... Everything is great about him. Except his hot temper. Other than off I'm really jealous of him honestly... It kinda sucks. I mean, he's incredibly talented and extremely handsome. Stuff I'm not...

Anyways, I tried to show that I like Cara but I don't know how to say it without actually saying it. I just have to let her leave and shrug it off to try again later.

-Cara's Pov-

Calum knocks quietly. I look up and chew my lip. "Come in Cal."

He walks in slowly and sighs softly, sitting next to me. "So I heard you and Ashton are a thing now?" He frowns softly, looking hurt.

I hug him and sigh. "I'm so sorry Cal... But I promise, I can find someone for you if you want me to."

He stares at me for a second then nods slightly, chewing his lip. "Really?"

I nod and smile. "Of course love."

He smiles wide. "Thank you so much!"

I nod and hug him, giggling.

He hugs back tightly, holding me close. "I won't let Ashton hurt you, okay?" He whispers in my ear.

I nod and kiss his head. "Thank you Cal."

He smiles softly. "Of course. It's the least I can do."
