Adam's P.O.V
Room 12 wasn't much of an improvement compared to the interrogation room. Its gray walls looked tired and the blind that covered the small window was faded with age. A small table was set up in the center of the room, the polygraph equipment on top. A camera was set up opposite the empty chair, not far from a recording device.
"Mr. Kent, take a seat." The man sat on the other side of the table said, and the officer who a strong grip on my arm forced me down. "If you would remove the cuffs," he asked and the officer obliged, but hesitantly.
"I'm not gonna try anything." I scoffed, rolling my eyes. The cop gave me a look, and left, taking up his post just beyond the door.
"I am Dr. Kelvin. I assume you are familiar with how this works." I nodded slowly at his words, and he began to hook me up to the lie detector. A blood pressure gauge was wrapped around my left bicep, two tubes around the chest to monitor breathing, and finally two sensors on my fingers. All together it was an uncomfortable experience. I was nervous, I had passed 2 of these tests before, but neither of them had so much riding on my ability to lie.
"I'm going to start by asking you to state your full name, age, and birthday," Kelvin asked, starting up the machine, the blood pressure cuff constricting my arm.
"Adam Joshua Kent, I'm 17 years old and my birthday is February 29th, 1998," I said in a flat tone staring blankly at the wall over Kelvin's shoulder.
"Okay, now could you state one lie." He asked and once again I obliged.
"I'm from Kansas," I said in a bored tone.
"Two more truths if you will."
"I'm an only child, and my favorite sport is boxing."
"Good, now onto the real questions," Kelvin smiled in a sickly sweet way straightening his papers. "Who's idea was it to steal the cars?
"Mine," I said simply, keeping my answer short. In all fairness it was the truth, I had suggested to Theo that we celebrated the last day of summer.
"Which car was it that hit Mr. Chesters?"
"The Camaro," I said flatly. This was a lie, hopefully, it wasn't detected. I had until the car was examined as part of the evidence to pass off this lie
"Who was driving it?"
"I was." Kelvin glanced at the readings, but his face gave away nothing. I let out a deep breath causing him to look up at me. I ran my free hand through my hair.
"You seemed stressed," Kelvin observed.
"Nah," I shrugged trying to play it cool, extremely aware of how tight the pressure cuff felt around my arm. "I'm just hungry," I said.
"If you aren't stressed, why do the reading say otherwise?" It was a trick question designed to throw me off. He didn't turn the monitor as proof. I just shrugged in reply. "Can you tell me what your plan was for after the cars had been painted?"
"We never had one."
"Now tell me where were the 2 Hunt's driving?" I had been waiting for this question to come up.
"I have no clue." I sighed taking a quick glance at the clock on the wall. We had been at this for 40 minutes. "Are we done yet?" I asked out of slight annoyance.
"Not quite yet. Now Mr. Kent, are you aware that the Camaro was examined whilst you were being questioned?" My heartbeat picked up. I had been caught. Kelvin leaned forwards on the table, a cruel smile on his face. "Now I believe we are finished." and he then signaled to the guards outside. As I was unhooked he came in and quickly escorted me back to my cell.
"Get in there." He snapped forcing me back inside.
"Where have you been?" Jace asked. I looked up as the bars were slammed shut behind me, rubbing my arm, still sore from the blood pressure cuff. He was sat exactly where I had left, sat in the room's far corner.
"Polygraph," I said sliding down the wall opposite.
"And?
"We're screwed," I muttered, leaning my head back.
"On the plus side, it looks like Theo and Ryder got away." Jace laughed. His comment stirred something in the back of my mind, I get one phone call.
Sorry for any mistakes in this so far, I will find the time to go back and correct them at some point. Thanks for reading. who's Adam gonna phone, and what will happen to them? Keep reading to find out
