Steven Universe Fanfic: The Spy (Rubapphire)

Mission

My new logo. I'll be putting this in the beginning in almost all of my stories now! (I'll get rid of the watermark soon. It just costs a few bucks. If not, chill, I'm not made of money and logos aren't my top priorities.)

~Prologue~

A Sapphire told Ruby and her 2 companions what was going to happen with the 2 Rubies being poofed and Ruby having to save another Sapphire. Blue Diamond knew of the plan and said her line just before Sapphire ran away with Ruby. Ruby kept a communicator and multiple types of gem technology in her gem in case something goes wrong.

~The Present~
Ruby's P.O.V.

I told Sapphire that I wanted to do something special for her for our fusion anniversary. She agreed to unfuse for a day. Even though it would pain her, she promised to try her best. It wasn't a problem for me though. My name's Ruby. I've been a head Ruby guard for most of my life. I am very skilled as you can tell. I am also an elemental gem, which means my elemental powers are tied to my emotions. When I get angry, I burst with flames, which is almost every time we unfuse, except during special occasions or emergency situations.

Every fusion anniversary, I sneak in a quick status report before making an anniversary surprise for Sapphire. I've known Sapphire for a few hundred thousand years or so. Not that long. I still don't know a lot about her even though she knows almost everything about me. I've been forced to try and feel a connection with Sapphire. It was hard, but I manage just enough to fuse with her for long periods of time without falling apart and not getting caught. I don't care as much as you think I do about her. No matter how hard you try, you will not find her in my heart at all. Not anytime soon, anyway.

When more gems joined the rebellion, I was anxious to tell the diamonds, but I couldn't think about it too much or Sapphire might be able to get through my thought barrier when we're fused and find out what I'm hiding.

If I have enough time, I normally call my friends back at homeworld and ask how they're doing. I was really popular back at homeworld. Lots of gems still remember me because I keep in touch with them. Ruby (eyeball) was one of my friends in my squadron. All I know is that she's lost in space. Most rubies are pretty dumb and that's why they picked me over them.
