Pure Confusion

"I don't either, love... but staying in this position forever isn't possible,"
"Huh?"
"Ruby, you know we still have to figure out what's going on with you," Sapphire tried reasoning with me.
I sighed and looked up at Fry-for-brains who was currently being held upside down by Lapis's floating bubble of water. Well, his head was sticking out, though. Too bad.
"Ronaldo, what're you doing here?" Steven asked.
"STEvEnnnn!" The idiot exclaimed in an unnecessary slur, "Help me fight off these Sneaple... or, rock monsters?... Whatever they are!- wait... Oh, no! They have you under their control! Don't worry! I'll save you!" The dumbfu- er... idiot, began to wiggle around, trying to get out of the bubble.
I looked over at Steven, waiting to see what his next move will be.

Smoke.
I could smell smoke.

Ashes... they surrounded the building.
-wait... building? But we were outside.
Look beneath your feet.
What?
The abyss. The abyss.
The voice echoed. The fire surrounding me seemed almost mute.
Chaos. Chaos.
...huh?
You will create-

"RUBY!" Someone shook me from my trance.
"Chaos..." I mumbled unwillingly.
A giant blue splotch stood in front of me.
Blurry. Everything around me was blurry. I felt... I felt... is this what Steven would say is being nauseous?

Black.

Screams echoed through the infinite abyss.
Everywhere I looked was pure emptiness. No light. I couldn't even see my own hand.

I set fire to my hand. All I could see was parts of my body, but nothing else.

Parts of the ground lit up, filling the void beneath my feet.
I was standing on a boardwalk now.
The boardwalk made a path for me to walk, so I walked.

I looked around as I walked. Still nothing.

Nearing the edge of the walkway, a figure appeared again. The figure.
"Who are you?" I mumbled, yet all around me echoed my voice. Amplifying it, even.
The figure's shadow began to bleed a color. It made out a person... no.. not a person. A gem?
Plump lips were beneath short curly bangs. Tears streamed down its eyes.
The tears were red...
It looked up slightly.
Its eyes were wide.
No...
It can't be.
Their eyes couldn't be wide if their sockets were empty.

Blood pooled from the sockets as the mouth made a terrifying expression.

It was a mixture of someone frowning and a deformed "O".

It screamed.
Its voice was amplified. Ear-splitting screaming shot into my ear.
There were no words. Just screams. Screams of pain. Screams of torture. Cries for help.

Although it is just deformed noise, the voice was familiar.

The face was familiar.
What I could make of it as a whole was familiar.
Why can't I remember?

The screams stopped. It was replaced by beeping.
Not like an alarm clock. Not like a fire alarm. But... maybe like tinnitus, but, instead of ringing, it was beeping?

The figure's mouth stayed open as the sounds were produced.

The figure began to melt like candle wax. An unpleasant visual indeed.
My thoughts so far make me sound psychotic. I don't feel any emotion right now, either.
What's going on?

I looked around, then looked back at the melting figure.
The figure formed into some odd remote... sort of like the shape of a T.V. remote but without any buttons. Just miniature flashing lights with antennae and could fit inside your palm. A walkie-talkie? No. There aren't any buttons.

I reached for the object.

As soon as the tip of my finger touched it, a bright light blinded me.

The salty scent of the beach surrounded my nostrils as my eyelids lifted slowly. They felt heavy.
Tinnitus, but, the actual ringing rather than the beeping I had heard earlier.
My vision was clear once again.
I sat up.
In front of me stood an unfamiliar beach house.
Where am I?
"Where am I?" I mumbled.
Redundant to say it out loud and think it at the same time. Especially, since I'm alone for all I know.
"Your mission," Someone placed their hand on my left shoulder.
I'm getting a migraine.
I remember the word mission before. In my dreams, perhaps?

My memory's foggy. All I remember is that whatever I've been through is messed up. Nothing makes sense.
"Your so-called friends knocked you out. They would've killed you if it weren't for me,"
"What? I think I remember something... I thought they almost killed me but didn't? I was with this blue girl... we were... in love, maybe? We were embracing and then... something happened?" I tried to make out what I could remember.
The girl made a buzzer sound and said, "wrong! Your friends said something about not being yourself anymore, which is accurate, might I add, but then instead of you snapping out of your... mind control, should I say?- your friends attacked you and knocked you out. You only dreamed of that happy ending."
The person cackled.
"I was the one who saved your *ss," the person pointed to herself.
"Uh... thanks? Um... who are you, exactly?"

She ignored my question and continued.
"Since I saved you, you owe me a favor. That's how this works. You have to destroy that house,"
"H-how would I do that.. and... why? Wait, what's going on?"
"Too many questions!" She dismissed.
"Burn the house with your powers. That house is the base of the people who abandoned you and nearly killed you. Destroy it. You'd be doing both of us a favor. I want you to destroy their home,"
"How does this benefit you?"
"My bosses told me to do it," she cut to the chase.
"Your... bosses?-"
"JUST GO!" She shoved me towards the house.
Why did that girl look familiar?

I opened the door of the house cautiously.
Nobody was home.
I looked around. Still nobody. There was a giant door and a platform in front of it. It was fancy. It looks like it'll be a maze in there... I'll go to it last.

I found a hidden door. I opened it.
A bowl filled with water with a lid on top, some sort of water dispenser, and a tub with some odd sponge on a stick inside of it.
I looked in the mirror that was above the water dispenser.

Then it hit me.
It makes sense now...
Well, sort of.
I remembered something about a collar... maybe a mental collar?
Wait... is that girl I met earlier doing something to my head that's preventing me from remembering?

There was paper surrounding a brown roll hooked on some sort of handle.
Maybe I can burn that?

I heated up my hand. The paper went ablaze. Smoke filled the room.
Time to create chaos.

I opened the door and closed the door behind me, allowing the fire to accumulate.

I began to burn the odd furniture that was laid out around the house.
It burned as well.
The fire danced inside of the house.

Then, I went blank.

Couldn't make out what Ruby was saying? Can't make out her thoughts?

Are you asking yourself, "What's even going on in this scene?"
Good. You should be.

If you can figure it out, great.
If you can't, that's completely normal, don't worry.

Hey hey hey! I'm back! And... this book doesn't make any more sense than it did before. Even less, probably.
Welp, let's just see where this goes :P
