~Sapphire's POV~

I struck Ruby with all of my force. It pained me, but I had to be logical. I couldn't let my heart get the best of me.

Ruby fell to the ground.
I was about to strike her one last time when a figure swooped past us. Almost at the speed of light, and took her.

I looked back at Amethyst, Pearl, and Steven, and they looked at me. We continued to look at each other.

Lapis and Peridot arrived soon after.
"What happened?" Peridot asked.
"It's a... long story," I said. In all honesty, I didn't know how to explain it. I couldn't even figure out what just happened myself.
"Why are you holding that human?" I asked Lapis. Lapis had a man with curly yellow locks upside down in a bubble of water. He was wiggling around, trying to escape.
"Ronaldo?" Steven asked.
"He had this," Peridot said, holding some strange device.
I got a closer look, but had no idea what it was.
"Where's Ruby?" Lapis asked.
"...We don't know?"
"What do you mean you don't know?" Lapis asked.

After a few moments explaining Lapis and Peridot the situation, we began to search for Ruby.

We searched for Ruby for hours, yet nothing.
We decided it was best to get some rest, or at least, get Steven some rest and search for her later.

All of us retired to our rooms, Steven to his bed, and Lapis and Peridot to the barn.

~Steven's POV~

I laid in bed. I was far from tired. I couldn't sleep. I tossed and turned for a straight five minutes.
I heard the door creak open.
I looked over. I couldn't believe my eyes.
"Ruby?" I asked.
"Ruby!" I called.
"Ruby!"
She couldn't hear me.
Her eyes looked just like how they were earlier.
I still have faith we can save her, but... for now, I don't think it's smart to approach her.

I hid under my covers as she turned towards my direction.
She didn't spot me, which was good.
I stayed hidden.

After a while, I began to smell smoke. I looked up from my covers. Smoke was coming from the bathroom.
I could probably run? Yeah, best to run.
I bolted out of the house before Ruby came out of the bathroom.

I watched as smoke emitted from all parts of the beach house. The building was set to a fiery blaze, turning my home into an infinite abyss of nothing other than charcoal and ashes.

All I could see was the door to the Gems' rooms.

Pearl walked out of the door and screamed.
"WHAT HAPPENED HERE?!"

I was close enough to see Ruby and Pearl, but far enough so that neither of them could see me. Not unless they knew I was here.
Ruby stood stone-cold, almost like a statue.
Pearl noticed Ruby and aimed her spear at her.
Did Ruby do this? Why?
She helped build this, after all. Why would she want to destroy it?

Hey guys, sorry about my writing. I haven't written this story in a while, and there haven't been any friggin episodes in the actual Steven Universe, which usually helps me get my mind ready to act out a bunch of character's personalities.
Whenever I write fanfictions, I can get into the minds of the characters, allowing me to have the characters think, act, and speak like how they would in the actual show, book, etc., but there haven't been any reruns, SU is far from my mind since PSAT is coming up and I have projects and presentations going on, and it's not helping that SU keeps having a ton of hiatuses with only like 5 episodes in between said hiatuses.
