Smoke and dust was flying everywhere as we all surrounded the object that caused all of that commotion.
"What is it?" Zircon asked, seeing the annoyed expression that was plastered all over my face.
"It's the rebels," I groaned, wondering when they'll find out when it's time to quit.
"What? No way. It's gotta be that group of Rubies that were sent to get The Ultimate Quartz, Jasper." Rut objected.
"Let's just say a lot of stuff happened on Earth," I said. The whole group looked at each other, then back at the red ship. I knew they would eventually come to Homeworld, just not this soon. You'd think they'd be smarter than to come to Homeworld. Especially with that low of numbers.Blasts of white energy struck down Prehnite from the could of debris.
"Defensive position!" I barked. Everyone summoned their weapons and destabilizers. As the smoke dissipated, we could clearly see our foes. Pearl was the first one we saw. Then Amethyst, Steven, Lapis, then... green Diamond-shaped hair? I looked down. Oh wait, that's just Peridot.
"Hold," I ordered, waiting for the right time to attack. Steven immediately ran in front of our gang with his shield up, yelling at us to wait. We all looked at each other.
"Have any of you guys seen a Garnet or a Ruby with her gem on her left hand and a Sapphire on the right?" Steven asked. I smirked at his ignorance.
"Who are you?" I tested.
"I'm Steven," He said cheerfully.
"Hmm, so tell me, Steven. Have I been away for so long that you don't recognize me?" I asked, purposely showing my gemmed hand.
"Oh, sorry, Ruby," He apologized.
"So, um... where's Sapphire?" He asked. I grinned.
"She's right here," I said coolly with Sapphire's gem in my hand. All of the Crystal Gem's eyes grew wide. I just smiled menacingly as I watched them look at me with fear or look at Sapphire with sadness.
"Ruby? What happened to you?" Steven asked with a scared and innocent tone in his voice.
"Nothing. I'm just being me," I laughed.
"B-but, you were so happy! And you were nice!" Steven said.
"Yeah, no need to remind me." I rolled my eyes.
"Beat it, pipsqueak, or we'll shatter you before you can say your name!" Andy threatened.
"Yeah!" They all chanted. Amethyst growled at us and Pearl's face was just in pure rage mode. All of their faces were priceless. I almost fell on my stomach, laughing. Then I noticed I still had Sapphire in my hand. I huge wave of flashbacks flooded my mind. I tried to shake them out of my head, but I couldn't. I grabbed my temples.
"Stop it, Sapphire!" I screamed. Everyone looked at me. Sweat drenched my forehead as I tried to block out the memories. Dang it, that gave the rebels hope. Great going, Sapphire -_-.
"Ruby? Snap out of it," Aqua comforted. The memories finally stopped. I took a deep breath. A Ruby squadron started coming up to us. "Let's just get this over with. Take them to the Diamonds," I ordered the Ruby guards. They all nodded in unison, surrounding the gems.
"Get off me, you twerps!" Pearl shouted as one Ruby was clutching her spear. I started laughing happily as I remembered that won time we almost got defeated by watermelons. No, stop it, Ruby. That was in the past.
"What's so funny? Like, non-torture funny?" Peanut asked.
"Hmm? Nothing," I lied.
"Ruby, we know there's still good in you! Even if you can't see it! Remember the real you!" Steven shouted as they were being taken away.
"Shut it, you!" A Ruby barked.
"I am the real me," I mumbled, hoping that saying that would convince myself. Then my communicator buzzed.
"Hello?" I answered.
"White Diamond would like to see you, now," White Pearl said. I nodded.
"Be there as fast as I can," I said, turning off the communicator.
