She laughs a little too loud these days,
she forces a wider smile.
She tries a little too hard and hopes we see her
loves worthwhile.
These acts of desperation, it seems,
are 'cause of one silly thing.
She's realising that in her own game,
she's not the one to win.

I originally wrote this poem when I started this book (back in 2016) and never got around to publishing it, so it's a lot more like my earlier stuff.
