"Oh no." Arcus said simply. He was struggling not to hide his grin.
'Showtime.'
"What?" Kassie goes pale a bit. "No way." She looks down, running her hand through her hair. She didn't have a fear of heights, but it did somewhat frighten her that they were stuck. "It's fine..." she leans back into her seat, biting her lip. She kept repeating this phrase for quite some time.
Arcus looks at Kassie, worried. Maybe this was a bad idea. "Hey don't look down, look at me. And then look at the view."
He tries to be as soothing and as calm as possible. Arcus gently holds her hand. "I won't let you fall, you're safe with me. I promise."
Kassie relaxes a bit, color returning to her face. She looked at Arcus, her eyes seeming a bit scared, but calm at the same time. "I-i'd rather just look at you..." She runs her other hand through her hair, her heart pounding. She wasn't sure if it was pounding because she was staring at Arcus or because she was actually afraid of heights. "He won't let me fall..." she reassured herself.
Arcus smiles, then he puts his arm around Kassie and holds her close. "Is this ok?" He looks at Kassie concerned, and glad that he saw some color returning to her face. He then softly smiled, getting an idea. "I know what'll make you feel better." He pulls out his own small notebook and hands it to her with a pen. "Try using the inspiration around you to create music." He hoped this would work.
'Well this didn't go how I thought it would... But maybe this way will be better. Who knows?' he thought.
Kassie came closer to him, resting her head on his shoulder. "I-its fine..." Kassie takes the notebook and pen, nodding slowly. She slowly looks around. She softly sings under her breath:
"Bright lights, Tan sand, wind blowing in my hair. I'd give anything to share this with you..."
She writes it down, frowning a bit. She mumbles. "No, no..." She cleared the lump in her throat. Not now. She pushed the dreadful memories out of her head. She tore the page out, tossing it somewhere below. She didn't care where it fell.
"Bright lights, tan sand, wind blowing in my hair. Summer nights..." she softly sang. She wrote it down, smiling a bit. Soon, she forgot they were even on a ferris wheel.
Arcus grinned and watched as she wrote and sang. 'YES! Goal 1. Achieved.' He had to concentrate to refrain from shouting YES from atop the Ferris wheel. He said, "I love her voice..." to himself as quietly as he could. Arcus didn't notice himself staring at Kassie and smiling, he just happily watched her write down lyrics.
Kassie continued writing before pausing, looking at her surroundings again. On the paper, she had about 4 full verses, and small notes scribbled onto the margins. She looked at Arcus, finding his brown eyes looking back at her. She gave him a soft smile. "Hi." She softly said before looking back down and continuing to her writing.
"H-hey." Arcus said awkwardly. He looked at the operator below and gave the 'ok' signal. He grinned, the first thing complete.
"Hey folks we found the problem!" The operator said as he turned the ride back on and it roared to life, carrying the two slowly and safely back down.
"Well that was something." Arcus said as they got brought back down.
Kassie sighed in relief, tearing the page with the lyrics out of the notebook. She places the page in her back pocket, nodding. "That was... that wasn't as bad as I thought it would be." She laughed a bit, running a hand through her hair. She loved the Ferris Wheel, no doubt. But being stuck on it was a totally different story. Her nerves were shot, but otherwise she was fine.
