Meanwhile...
Sophie gets back to her room, putting Arcus' sweater in a pile with a dozen other sweaters and shirts of his. She sighs and cries a little bit. "He fell in love with someone already? Geez... why the hell does this bother me? She's a great girl. She'll fit in perfectly and quite frankly I like her and if we met on the street we'd be friends..." Sophie fell on her bed. "I don't want to lose my bestfriend..." she put her headphones in and listened to some 2000s R&B.
Cassandra was outside the room, listening. She giggled softly. Her and her husband were the exact same way. She didn't intend to eavesdrop, honestly. She'd meant to go to the kitchen and get water. She shrugged and yawned, walking back to her bedroom. She then heard soft crying from Sophie's room, and she grew worried. She softly rapped on the door using her knuckle. "Hey sweety, everything alright in there?" She said softly, so that she didn't bother anyone else sleeping.
Sophie froze for a second and wiped her eyes. "Shit..." She walked up to her door and opened it. "Y-yeah I'm fine. Who are- Oh! Cassandra. How are you?" She regained her usual demeanor and laughed as if she wasn't just crying a second ago. Not being able to sleep, Sophie got up. "I'm going to go downstairs and clean. You can come with and talk with me for a bit if you want." She offered politely and put on one of Arcus' shirts. It was huge on her. Usually she talks to Crystal about these things but Crystal was... occupied. She got up and started walking downstairs.
Cassandra looked directly into Sophie's eyes, nodding slowly. Kassie had the same symptom after she's finished crying. Red, puffy eyes. Cassandra followed her, ready to clean. "Well... Everything alright huh?" She didn't want to push her too hard, but she was wondering. She didn't mind the shirt, as she assumed that she had a boyfriend herself.
Sophie sniffled. "Yeah I'm fine. The music... Just gets to me sometimes you know?" She laughs, and she doesn't have any makeup on so her scar is showing. Sophie gets a broom and starts sweeping, gathering cups and debris into a pile. "Don't do any cleaning, it's your first night here. Cleaning comes after like... A month." She forces herself to laugh and tries to hold it all together but a single tear escapes her face. Sophie grabs a trash bag and starts gathering the stuff in the pile she made.
Cassandra took the broom and the bag, looking her directly in the eye. "Sweety, we both know that's not the truth. I'm a mother, and I have those... motherly instincts, Kassie prefers to call them. What's going on?" Cassandra guided Sophia to an empty couch, sitting down
"It's nothing. I'm fine." She sits on the couch grabs a handful of the shirt she's wearing. Sophie's expression hardened and went blank as she suppressed her emotions. As she always has. She groans and leans back on the couch sighing. "I should get back to cleaning."
Cassandra sighed, then looked at the shirt. Maybe she was wrong about it. Or maybe she was having relationship issues. "Hey, that's a nice shirt. Where'd you get it from?"
"It's Arcus' shirt..." Sophie admits. "Sometimes I just pop into his room and take one... or a sweater" she laughs.
"Hm..." Cassandra nodded. "How are you and Arcus lately? I mean, he's been pretty preoccupied with Kas, huh?" She laughs, running a hand through her hair, the same way Kassie did.
"We've been fine. Same as we've been for over a decade. Why?" Sophie asks suspiciously. "Well duh." She laughs "He fell in love with her. He won't leave her side. Like ever. That dingleberry is like that you know... loyal."
Cassandra nodded and laughed. "Yeah, so is Kassie. She's more loyal to him than she was when she had a Teddy Bear when she was 6. She kept it until she was 10, then she lost it. She was devastated." She laughed.
